I don't think I need to show a more recent official statement for my point to be valid. The Russian state considers 'invasion', 'war', and 'attack' to be punishable lies. If you think the official position of the Russian state has since changed, that's on you to provide the update.

It only mentions a fine because, as you mention, the statement predates passage of the new criminal law that threatens prison. That has since changed. The Russian state is only censoring intentional lies though, right? If calling this war an 'invasion' was a lie before the new law was passed, why would it suddenly stop being a lie afterwards?

Or perhaps this bill isn't important enough for you to thoroughly research either.

Again, this was in the very early part of the operation, before it grew into what it is today.  RT is even calling it an invasion now, so highly doubt it would be considered intentional disinformation.

Is it really snooty to call you out on a tendency you admitted to earlier; in the very thread? Personally, I think an underhanded insult that implies most of the people here are "less smart" than me (aka more stupid) is a better demonstration of a snooty attitude.

Besides, why wouldn't I question if you weren't thoroughly researching things again? You "don't think using the term 'invasion' would get anyone in trouble" - even though I've repeatedly shown you an official statement of the Russian gov't acknowledging use of the term 'invasion' was punished, and you acknowledge reading it.

The issue of fines vs prison is a red herring here - what matters is that the Russian state has passed a law that criminalizes speech based on a flimsy standard of disinformation. You're out here blasting Canadian Content guidelines that force 20% of broadcasting to be Canadian in origin as censorship, but seemingly have no problem with 'invasion' potentially being censored by the Russian government depending on what month you decide to use it.

If anything, suggesting that you just haven't looked into things is me giving you the benefit of the doubt - because the other alternative is suggesting that you are intentionally misrepresenting the reality of state censorship in Russia.

I explained this.  The rule was made at the beginning of the conflict, and now even RT is calling it an invasion.  Did you not see that?

Again, I said I'm ok with censoring intentionally fake news.  Since RT is even calling it an invasion now, it would appear that term is ok now.

It would be pretty great if there were some kind of consequences for the mainstream media here in the US deliberately spreading lies to justify wars.

Think about how much blood the mainstream media has on its hands. They are practically swimming in rivers of blood, enabled by their lies.

Job Oliver did a nice segment on truckers. It is mind blowing to me that truckers managed to gain that much platform and the best they could come up with is freedom, fuck Joe Biden, and anti-vaccine nonsense. Many of them are losing their asses in that profession and have basically zero recourse in the matter, so they honked their horns and rode around for fun. Makes sense.

It amazes me how many people still believe the likes of Oliver, Stewart, and Colbert are just regular independents talking truth to power! I really loved those guys back in the day when The Daily Show was peaking...

Looking back it was always partisan propaganda but it was effective in its subtlety and selectivity whereas now Colbert has become every bit as ridiculous and blatantly propagandist as his old alter-ego. It's interesting because back in the day it was those guys who made Tucker Carlson look like a corporate shill whereas now the roles have been reversed (not that I trust Tucker).

Oliver is a funny likable guy but still peddles corporate propaganda at the end of the day, every bit as much as Hannity over at fox.

Olivers more dangerous though because being a funny and likable guy makes him more effective (trustworthy) at his job than the blatantly souless Hannity!

I read an article this week with a guy saying there isn't a shortage of drivers. There's just a shortage of drivers willing to work for the big companies.

I talked to a truck about 6 weeks ago at Walmart. He said they were putting barely trained new drivers on the road,

I can admit that while I dislike Tucker Carlson there are times where he says things worth hearing. It's called being honest, using some critical thinking, and acting like a fucking adult.

Here's a thought, truckers make shit wages while working absurd hours and getting screwed out of what should be paid time. It's discussed in the video. Can you guys get your hands off your dicks long enough to think about that?
