Well I finally was chased out of a famous "wont mention" place. What a scary moment! Somehow I didnt lose anything from my pockets. I ran for over an hour to escape lol. Be careful out there guys. I thought I was being extremely careful. Apparently wasn't.

I’ve had azures pin in jars, sandwich baggies, spawn bags, and in baggie with egg cartonhttps://

This was result of letting it sit many months neglected in cool 54degree basement temps

This spawn bag had dozens of fat azure pins on side wall mycelium
Prob a yr plus old forgotten, notice the ball pin towards bottom of front of bag https://

Fully colonized, old grown substrate often gets pins,
I have also always used early season fruitier stembutts to expand my patch to patches
Many lasted nearly a decade
Some are 14+ going strong yet

My advice to those pampering outdoor beds :
Don’t even think to go from fruit stembutt to cardboard or egg carton
Use eyes and pick largest early fruiters and constantly expand stembutts straight to WOODCHIPS where u want them anyways
Don’t waste time with goofy shit to place over top in hot or cold weather
You should build beds in various elevations and build them 3D style with cover that makes good microclimate for pinning

Azzies in Oly [Re: Joust]
    #27531762 -

This little patch of azzies expands a bit each year, so fun to watch it grow! Not in dunes or dune grass, but a wild tall grass microclimate in a flooded wetlands that reminds me of the coastal beach bogs. Olympia, WA.

Did you start them ?
The places I look that it’s like comfortable access and great habitat but no cyans , I’ve been seeding w/ quart bags of colonized oak chips …..
Covering w/ some native chips and a few inches of leaves w/ winter coming
Olympia ; )

Some well-hidden, lonely grass cyans

Just a few feet away, some even lonelier ovoids.

A badass dragonfly who was either sleeping or dying (or tripping).

Some very healthy pins. This could be a great patch but is so right out in the open, they almost invariably won't see maturity.

Such a slow start to the season. I don't think I've seen a single Seattleite on here post a classic huge patch find yet. I don't care if I'm personally not the one finding it, I just want to see anyone post one. It's been plenty wet and cold for a while now. Hope things around here become more fruitful for everyone soon.

Cheers.

Came back up to the coast for the weekend. So far I’ve found a fair few azzies but no cyans in sight... bummer. Cyans are my favorite and I haven’t found them in 5 years, really hoping to find some while I’m up here

A wee baby pin

Group shot

I checked a couple of my patches that had a ton of em a couple weeks ago but found just a few each and some pins. Found a few new patches as well. Not bad for the first day!

I also found about 10 black azzies, they’re pretty far gone but I picked them anyways. On a scale from 1-10, how sick do you they’d make me?

Chased by cops or what? I almost got busted today too, was picking in a park and a cop pulled into the parking lot, no more than 50 feet away from me and looked right at me. I didn’t freak out though and just continued walking around for a few mins before leaving.
