There are almost no other variants circulating in the world now except the delta variant. We haven’t seen a new variant of concern arise since January. The virus is becoming a lot more genetically stable.

You do understand that without the ventilators people would just die. Nearly every person on a ventilator would be dead without them.

You go on a ventilator when you no longer have the energy to breathe. It becomes too exhausting.

A youtube channel may be close enough. A member of the group has confirmed that they are both "very very sick". They haven't posted any new videos in six days. They usually do one or two a day.

Yes.

Every single day, the doctors round (visit each patient in groups) and if anyone is on a ventilator, the #1 priority with relation to that ventilator is determining if and when it is no longer needed. The doctors order to maintain O2 saturation above a certain number, usually 90 to 95, depending on the patient. Respiratory therapy visits every 1 or 2 hours and reduces ventilator settings- FIO2, PEEP, etc., if they think the patient can handle it. Once the patient is on the lowest ventilator settings, a spontaneous breathing trial is ordered STAT unless contraindicated.

The same is true for any of the invasive things patients have: indwelling urinary catheters, chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, etc.: the hospital has such an interest in ensuring that these are removed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE that they have a special team visit every patient every shift and to determine whether there is still a valid justification for leaving whatever the person has in place, in place

If your patient only requires two drips and no hemodynamic monitoring the hospital is going to remove the central line (along with ANY other barriers to exit) as fast as it possibly can.

Same is true for a ventilator. The moment the medical team decides you can probably maintain O2sat sufficient to oxygenate your brain/heart/vital organs without using a ventilator, they will try it out. If you desat, they'll keep you on it. If you don't, they'll take you off.

Maybe they didn't actually have it. Maybe you're asymptomatic, got it, and spread it to a bunch of people. Maybe they did have it, but you didn't get close enough to catch it.
