Well, one good thing to make of all this. WHen shit hits the fan next time around, at least we know NOW that there is large population of humans who would much rather watch this world crash and burn then try to stop it.

Absolutely. You really need to be sick and infected with covid for 10 days or more to get a full adaptive immune response. It takes that long for the cells that make antibodies to mature. Once they mature, if there are no longer antigens floating around because the innate immune system has cleared the virus, those cells won’t make many antibodies. They will sit there until the next exposure to the antigen before pumping out antibodies en masse. Some of parts of the adaptive immune system can take months before they are ready. One exposure doesn’t really cut it with this particular virus.

This is definitely the same thing I got back in Feb 2020. My gf got double ear infections the first time, and she did a lot better this time. We both did really. I completely lost my taste the first time, but could still smell a little. She got it from work last Monday. We both felt like we were kind of battling something all last week. She got the headache and fever on Thursday, and mine started on Saturday. We are both still slightly weaker than usual, and the smell thing is weird with no real congestion. We can still taste somewhat this time. She started getting her smell back yesterday some, which is cool. My friend's vaccinated mom who tested positive over two weeks ago still can't smell or taste. Sad.

We have been eating osha root, also did the first time, and no real respiratory symptoms. I've given it to a few other people who have had it, and they never really got respiratory issues either. That stuff is powerful.

I'm sure protease enzymes would actually help with the spike proteins, as that's what they do is break proteins down. Idk if you would need to put them directly in your nose though...

There's so much we don't know about all this still. I feel like anyone saying otherwise is lying to themselves. It's definitely more comfortable to try to explain everything rather than ponder unknowns. It is a good sign if it's stabilizing though, probably means it's on it's way out. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this virus is gone by early next year. Isn't that kind of what SARS1 and MERS did...stabilize and fade away?

Also...my cousin specifically said the vaccine doesn't seem to work well against the Delta variant, and said he hoped the booster would fix that. Sounds like maybe not though...who knows. Maybe I should start selling my Delta antibodies, I could use the cash.

Data from last year isn’t very helpful. Delta is not the same disease we had in 2020.

In terms of overall cause of death, covid is most significant in the 40-50 age group and is more significant in the 18-29 age group than the 85+ Age group, which is the least affected group after children under 18.

Of all of this is almost entirely preventable with vaccines.

Percent of deaths due to covid by age, august 2021 USA

Under 18: 3.1%
18-29: 11.4%
30-39: 20.1%
40-49: 28.2%
50-64: 23.4%
65-74: 18.0%
75-84: 14.0%
85+ : 9.1%

(idk if you saw the other thread about me quitting the trauma ICU but) I'm working covid again, but not ICU.

my youngest patient today was 38. she was by far the sickest- she stepped down from a 5 day ICU stay and was still getting 30 liters of o2/min at 35% o2. she will likely make a recovery,  but the sickness has taken a definite toll on her body. a lot of people think they walk away unscathed because they look the same, but the labs and imaging tests tell a different story

Lions at the national zoo got extremely sick with covid and had to be put in induced comas to be treated.

one of my four patients had been vaccinated (last february, by self report). he was 78 and he went home today after receiving remdesivir and 3 days of mild to moderate oxygen support

edit: for the record, everyone else also got remdesivir

tbh I still havent gotten my booster, just been making excuses. 8 months out from my second shot and working 100% covid right now though so I need to get it soon
