Yep, basically identical. I let one plate sit for a long time and hyphal knots + blue bruising were observed. The mycelium on the oats looks strong and healthy. I too thought it was a bit iffy at first though.

ah, yeah. been there, that shit just cant take the heat sometimes
do you precut your parafilm before you need it?
I've had sketchy parafilm on some plates because I cut out all the strips the night before and put them on in the morning
they got dry and didn't stretch well

After 4 transfers mine looked the same, maybe a little more organized. It seems like that with APE and PE this type of somewhat atypical look is more common but that's just my opinion of course. There is certainly a spectrum of mycelium morphology with some growth not falling neatly into "tomentose" or "rhyzomorphic"

The two plates upper left were my PE plates. The growth was extremely slow and showed no signs of contamination. The second plate from the left produced hyphal knots and bruised blue about a month after that photo was taken.

They produced this very slow growing mycelium on oats:

A bit presumptuous to say they don't look like any cube mycelium, #JMOOC
