For someone who claims to be against pc culture, it's really amusing that you are the forum master of using pc language; and not in response to bumping up against the "community standards" - no you were displaying this trait long before then - you use neutered language to avoid being pinned to untenable positions while attempting to undermine viewpoints you disagree with.

Example: that was a lot of pc words used just to say "I don't like that this community supports self-defence against fascists".

jobs for young people suck,
and they are generally in better health than gen Xers and the older end of millenials
but they want to know the life they are trying to build won't be thrown into upheaval due to climate disasters in another few decades

mortgage a home, then lose it to uninsured act of god 5 years later

the standard of living for the younger end of millenials isn't as nice as it is for their boomer parents tho
student debt to get an entry level position rather than an actual good job after school
stacked employment system focused on "experience" rather than "education"
typically rent slaves rather than home owners, unless set up by more well-off parents
and more at risk of being pitted against climate refugees for employment positions in the future

That's part of the reason 'tiny houses', 'van dwellers', alternative housing, and off-grid living are so appealing to young people. People are trying to find a new path that doesn't include debt-slavery. Millenials had to take out mortgage-sized loans to go to college to get those entry level jobs, and people wonder why they don't have mortgages lol...

Now millenials are looking for a New Fucking Deal, and we want it to be green.

There’s no reason for it not to be more environmentally friendly. Establishment elite like qman want the status quo preserved. It’s easier for them.

Sorry to derail the thread but I have some information relevant to Sanders 2020:

Some new polls out last night and today, a couple out of NH and a few national polls:

Bernie inching towards Biden nationally, and holding/building his lead in New Hampshire. Biden still leading among black voters by almost double Bernie though, gonna have to make up that ground if we want to minimize damage in the south. Donate, phone bank, canvass, talk to your family and friends. Thanks.

Well at least when Yang drops out, he won't endorse Biden.

I used to think the same of Warren but now I’m not so sure.

Like how Kamala beat up on Biden about busing and now she’s trying to float herself as a VP pick for him. Self serving amoral careerists the lot of them.

Warren won't be endorsing Bernie. Her attack on Bernie ended her campaign, and I have an idea she's quite sour about it. I don't know that she will be endorsing anyone. If she were to endorse Biden, it would end any future she has, pretending to be a progressive.

Surprised the betting markets have Bernie up so high in Nevada when there haven’t been that many polls out of the state recently.

Most recent poll is a USA Today one from early January that goes as follows:

Biden 19
Sanders 18
Warren 11
Buttigieg 8

I’m guessing they’re taking into account the likelihood Sanders wins IA and NH, and the resulting momentum going into Nevada.

investors are betting on momentum

the idea is that bandwagon voters will get rolled up if Sanders performs as expected in Iowa and NH.  This is especially true if Pete outperforms Biden in either contest

I was quite surprised also. If Bernie wins NH and Iowa, he'll likely take Nevada, though, and I have a feeling he will win Nevada.

Actually, I should place some bets... Because I don't see Bernie losing NH, and that's some easy money.

It’s crazy to me how roughly half of voters are still undecided.

But yeah, it seems to be the main reason Klobuchar and Bloomberg and Steyer and Buttigieg (and honestly Warren at this point) are still sticking around: if Biden underperforms in the early states the “I guess joe Biden idk” crowd could galvanize behind any of those 5. And honestly it’s a good thing that all these people are smelling blood in the water because if not then Biden would be polling at least 10 points higher basically everywhere.

Also, here’s the Emerson poll for Iowa that dropped last night.

Lmao at Warren falling behind fucking Klobuchar. Turns out backstabbing your friend on the debate stage and calling the most honest man in politics a sexist liar wasn’t a good look.

I don't even know that I support UBI. If UBI were implemented, all other social programs would be done away with. That's my understanding of what is being proposed. It's beneficial, because you eliminate the overhead costs of other social programs (which can be in the realm of 50%), but I don't know that a lot of Americans are responsible enough to use that money responsibly, and effectively replace those programs.

I think people would benefit more from publicly funded healthcare, and college. Yang is correct in saying that AI is going to replace most jobs, eventually, and we're going to have some serious problems. I don't think UBI is the way to go now, but maybe someday.

I might add that, if you replace all social programs with one social program, that program will be an easy target for lobbyists to widdle away with austerity measures.

Its all about implementation. The idea (that Yang pushes let’s be real) that we have to choose between SS/Medicare/Medicaid/SNAP and UBI is a false dichotomy. We can do both.
