That is how I did it.
I seen good recovery in about 2 or 3 days.

I may have a miracle on my hands.

Clean ms syringe lc.


Time will tell.

I even dipped an old syringe in iso for a while then stuck it through the ship of the gt and knocked up three half pint jars. They all grew clean which shocked me but I figured even if it had been clean I ruined it with my iso needle.

I'd test on agar/of cake. The culture shouldn't be all settled at the bottom(lazy) and the broth looks all cloudy.

I have 1  Atlanta#7 LC that I left for a couple of weeks, again it has surface growth and myc forming in the sides.  Is this a sign of my lack of knowledge and laziness and its toast or could it be usable?

Nothing grew on my test petris, pretty positive my loop was still too hot when i dipped it OR i didn't dip it far enough. I dipped it into the top layer of the liquid, to submerge the actual loop, but i didn't dip it into the myc itself. Should that matter? I decided to be a little ballsy and commit them all to grain. If it works out, fuck yeah! If it doesn't, fuck me but then i know my LC was bad and i know what to look for. Because of the petris not growing, i slowly poured off the "non-colonized" liquid into a separate container before inoculating, and making sure each jar got a chunk of mycelium. Does the liquid still contain myc? I swirled hard before opening, and i'll definitely be getting a stir plate for the future.


But so far so good! Noced up 40 jars from my four 250mL bottles 6 days ago, this looks slow to me. But A) it's APE so it's slow anyway, B) i don't really care about speed as long as it's clean, C) each jar got ~10mL of LC after pouring off (what i thought is/was) excess so maybe i didn't use enough. I'll take another peek at them 3-4 days from now and decide if they are ready to shake or not.

I have almost zero lc experience but when I just tested mine I shook it up real good first and just barely put the loop in and got good growth all over. It took like two or three days to come to life.

Looks like you didn’t shake the jar after pouring the lc in.  Looks clean so far though, you’ll have a shitload of ape coming up.

When you shook your LC, did a lot of the myc break up? On my final swirl, almost none broke up. I didn't see any growth by day 4 or 5, and then i committed to grain so i forgot about the plates. Just checked them, it's been two weeks, and still nothing so my loop was too hot.

No i didn't shake after pouring because i've read somewhere that it's better not to shake immediately so you can tell if your LC was clean or not. Especially since i wasn't positive if it wasn't clean, i wanted to keep a close eye. Thanks for the extra pair of eyes, looks clean to me too! You're right, even if i get a half oz dry per qt, i'll have a shitload of ape :rockon::chugbeer:

So I didnt do a test plate I did test jars

The Amazonian pin LC went to grains then to this shoebox 1 quart.......



The other jar I had ready to G2G if this was clean exploded and I have a banging invitro grow going on......



This LC will now be used for 10 more jars

I made an Atlanta#7 LC and it looks a bit ropey,  mycelium has grown on the jar and I think rocks are forming in there.  I need to test it

Love the look and idea of using a whiskey bottle with a little colour, This looks great so will test soon.

Here is my bottle around 2 weeks in. First time making LC, no clue if it looks good or not. Dropped a small agar wedge off a clean plate. The broth had quite a bit of sediment from the LME after pc. What you think?

:fuckyeah: If I dump the 250ml between say 4 quart jars of grain will I fck up the moisture content up too much? I've got another 3 qt jars that are about 30% colonized from agar. Would like them to be done at about the same time.

I think what mushboy is saying is you need to test it before going big as u can never tell from just looking at LC's.

That'd be like 60ml of inoculate per jar. That's way to much. 250ml can easily knock up 25qts.

I like doing a splash per jar. Splash being a technical term for 10ish ml.
