It appears to me that every time the conditions
seemed perfect, things would start nicely then the conditions suddenly changed. I won't complain though, I've had some really
nice walks and found sufficient amounts of spoil to keep me through the winter.

Yea same in here about the conditions. The below zero nights came early this year and everytime it started to improve and some rains came, back we were at the freezing temps. I'm not really complaining either thought, I got enough libs anyway to survive through the winter and I still have several hundreds of P. medullosa from last year and collected 50 or so this season aswell. Likely giving them a go at some point. I got also hundreds of Pholiotina cyanopus left, I gave them another go some time ago and they really are some potent little mushrooms. Had some good walks and found two new habitats nearby of my house, so in that sense it was a "good season".

Ah, still on my list to find those buggers, haven't really had an eye open for them so far but tempted to check for them next year.
Is the experience different from liberty caps?

The experience has been less "mindfuck" compared to libs and no nausea whatsoever. The onset has been also weird, like you don't feel anything happening and 30 minutes after consuming you get the feeling that these ain't working. Then suddenly BAM and you're zoned in. The next day afterglow and feeling is awesome. Other than those it hasn't been that different based on my experiments, but I do enjoy the no nausea or no any kinda of uncomfortable feeling.

I hope you do find them and I'm really waiting for the next summer to see if they fruit again and also got an idea about some possible habitats to check because of this years finds.

Last picking was November 1st, but I observed some the week after which I didn't pick. Haven't seen anything since, but haven't been really looking either.
