So I wish this was a better testament to Pasty tub design but I was F'ing around with light sources and dried my surface out. In trying to fix my mistake, I matted some of my surface ( still got an ok pin set, all things considered)



My side by side comparison is screwed for same reason. Unmod tubs were total side/bottom pins due to surface drying out.

The rest of the tub is exactly the same. You get the idea tho.

Now that I fixed my lighting issue. I will try again on the side by side. I have some RustyWhites masters jar (from the same plate and then expanded by G2G) almost ready. Will share as they go.

I do have to interpose, that I really like your design and have already spawned another tub using it.

While that does look a bit dry the good news is that it’s not totally dead, I would hit it with a mist and I bet the second flush comes in strong.

Evolve or die!

Finally got around to building a few of these.  I’m going to run it side by side with a MP taped tub.  I usually run MP tape.  Got the idea from a grower here on shroomery.  The culture is rusty whyte.  I’m especially excited to see fruits because the spores came a clone culture that did this:



If this MS does well, I’ll be donating some spore prints from the cloned culture to a giveaway coming soon.  @OP if you want to check out RW I’d be more than happy to send you a spore print.

Not the best or worst tub in the world. It's only fair to note though, I was unhappy with the results of this culture in my last run (don't tell them) but just made a bunch of tubs with it because it does fine enough and i had a shitload of LC kicking it. I've since gone back to the slant in hopes to retain it's former glory.

Here's another tub of the same culture, same LC, same sub, same spawn ratio, made on the same day but with the good ol poly. It's pretty much the same. Not good but not bad.




"Final" conclusion, having tried this once and therefor knowing everything there is to know..... I think this works just fine. Thanks Pasty!

Third ez dial. Picked a bit late. Was having trouble adjusting to change of seasons but am figuring it out with a fan in the room. I never used to use one.

JAN, I'll take you up on a Rusty whenever you have time. :thumbup:

So, I modified your mod, Pasty.

We talked about taping up holes and redrilling, so I taped the long side holes, and left 1 1/4" short end holes so that I don't have to unstack in order to mist if necessary. My room is a little crowded, so unstacking is a pain.

Looks to be working quite well on what I've spawned in them, and it still cuts down on filters by 2/3.

So here are my ez dials so far.







Now for the next 2 pics, both are same amount of same spawn from same LC in subs made together.
The first one is an EZ dial, the second is an unBoded.




The unmoded did finished 3 days earlier but the flush was quite uneven.

After reminding myself through a bigger than expected hole that I should warm my tub before trying to put holes in it, Tub #1 of Pasty’s Ez driller tubs got filled with what ended up being 3.5” total sub including a 1/2” verm top layer.

Tub #2 was also warmed up and drilled and is waiting for grain spawn to finish, I’m going to add a bit more bulk to it to get it around 4” - 4.5”

Pastywhyte Tub #1 3.5” day 14
When compared to the polyfil monotub the verm casing hasn’t colonized as much presumably because it’s been open to fruiting since it was mixed.  However there are multiple pins starting to show, which can be hard to see against the verm but the mid right patch has at least a couple.  This is a few days ahead of expected, I like this spawning to fruiting conditions idea.


Pastywhyte Tub #2 4” day 10
Not as much to see here mostly adding for completeness.  Look verm!  Day 10 is generally when I opened for fruiting, and a close inspection finds some areas with knots, so it’s ahead of schedule as well.

Oooh. I'm new to the hobby and was going to follow another Tek I found that uses an unmodified tub with the cover off a half inch, but this looks sexy... Is this one of those "hard to screw it up" sort of things? Because trust me, with my track record I'm bound to screw something else up!  :whiteflag:

Biggest thing I'm worried about looking at this tek is the fact that it's getting cold and dry up here in the top right corner of the US. And I may need to run a space heater in the room (has a fan) to keep it warm enough. Read through every post. I'm almost convinced I just need someone to slap me and tell me to do it this way :grin:

This would be my first grow if I could get some damn agar to not get totally and utterly contaminated. Determined to right all my wrongs on that front this weekend. Have 5 pristine tubs waiting to get drilled.

Ditch the infrared space heaters with fans.
Get the oil filled radiator ones.
They are allot more efficient across the board and they don't dry your room out like a popcorn fart.

Last year the infrared cost me an extra 30 a month, dried shit out fast no matter where i pointed it and so far this oil one is costing me 12 a month while running 1/2 the time. :cookiemonster:

This little turd will heat up a 12x30 room from 55 to 76 in under a hour.
