Check it out! 90% success rate! (Note the jar that rounds out the pyramid is missing).
9 KSS jars good to go, and I'm pasteurizing some poo as I type this.
Plus I have 10 Mexican Albino jars that are in the process of colonizing, and so far no contams!

Uh actually I spawned right after I took that picture. The poo came out good except one of my oven bags tore open while I was soaking it and I got poo juice ALL over the sink and counter.
But theres still another tub to be done.
Sorry I got excited and forgot to call you. I'll let you know about the other one, but its gonna be at least a week methinks.

I'm gonna have to say, the results of this grow turned out AWESOME. Check out some mushie porn.
These pictures were taken at 24 hour intervals. I know it looks like I'm just zooming at first, but I'm not!
Day 1 (10/31 Halloween!) 1st signs of pinning. I was worried at first because I did not see much a pinset.
Day 2 Looks like their doubling time is about 24 hours.
Day 3 Could see plenty of late pins coming up now.
Day 4 They keep on growing!
Day 5. I actually harvested these about an hour after I took the picture. For some reason I didn't want the spores to drop. The caps probably would have gotten huge though.
To put it bluntly, I was floored by how well these guys grew. EACH of those mushrooms turned out to be about 4 grams dry. The total harvest was 402 wet g.
The tub kept flushing for a few more days after the initial harvest.
Day 7 Look at all the pins in the opposite corner!
Day 9 Fashionably late my friends.
Day 10 Final harvest
Pinning was a bit uneven, but my conditions weren't exactly perfect. But still....I have to say I honestly didn't expect the tubs to flush this well! The total wet weight was 1095 grams of tasty KSS boomtowns.

those mushrooms are beautiful. picture perfect. awesome flushes! KSS do you mean koh samui super strain? those dont look like any samurai's i've grown, mine were always little stocky bastards. but great job none the less. i might have read over this part, how deep was your substrate? what was your casing layer? how often did you fan? did you monitor your humidity in there at all? fantastic grow man.
p.s. oh yeah? hawking said that? hmm. well i wouldnt be one to doubt him. lol

Thanks freetree, I'm gonna go with beginners luck for now.
Yeah, well I got prints from Dizzwizzle on the shroomery. He told me they were KSS. But I agree, from pictures I was expecting there to be thicker/shorter stems. They did turn out to be quite dense though, so I dunno.
My substrate was about 4 inches deep. I got it from a giant hpoo/straw/alfalfa compost pile that was about 2 years old. The stuff was very dry and broken down, it worked excellent.
I actually cased it at the same time I spawned...I wanted to maintain the humidity of my bulk since I live in a pretty dry climate. My casing layer was 60% coco coir, 40% vermiculite. Before fruiting, I dunked it for about 4 hours, and tossed another very thin (like less than half an inch) of casing evenly on top. I used a 100W CFL and a strand of christmas lights as my light source.
Fanned and misted about 4-5 times a day. My humidity varied a lot...up to 95% when I would mist, and back down to 80% when I came and misted again. Thats probably why I had such an unbalanced pin set.
And hawking could probably fuck with your head way more than that in real life.
