Straw Log vs Mono Tub vs Casing?

Hi - How's it going?
Last year when I was reading this board a lot there was a lot of buzz about straw logs. Where you have the 10" plastic tube and jam colonized substrate and straw into the bag, tie up the ends, and let it colonize. Then you unwrap it and fruit the log. I had mild success with a straw log. It had big heavy fruits - but not to many of them for me.
This year the buzz seems to be about mono tubs. The mono tubs seem to be pretty easy and fool proof with a decent yield. I'd probably like to try the mono tub this year and see how that goes. I've had great success with substrate and casing in a fruiting chamber. With out ever trying a mono tub - I would have to ask: why wouldn't you just do mono tubs instead of casings it seems much simpler? The yield and multiple flushes would be better with the casings - would be my guess.
Does anyone that has had success with all 3 techniques have a comparison between the 3 (straw logs, mono tubs, and casings)?
Thanks Shaq
P.S. I can't wait to see what the buzz is about next summer!!!!

haha, no help here, but i'm going to take a shot at the buzz of next year...
a casing layer of toenail clippings (for calcium), multivitamins (for nutes), a 20/80 soy milk/coffee liquid for substrate, and the casing layer will be a 50/50 elephant poop/verm
hahaha
add some alien death ray sterlization and you're set!

monotub is just a fruiting container. It is essentially a casing, except that its one big casing depending on the size of the tub.
Its almost a lazy mans way of doing things.

can you say casing layer?
Zoo Poo is a natural, organic compost made from herbivorous animal manure, straw and garden waste.
'Jumbo boost'
The heat generated during the maturation process kills any weed seeds and pathogens and the end result is a slow-release compost which does not smell.
"Zoo Poo is good for vegetables, soft fruit, roses, shrubs, trees and lawns," said Stephen Bullock from EcoSci.
"The longer maturation process makes it a really effective compost.
"One of the reasons why Zoo Poo is so good is that elephants only use 60% of the nitrogen in their diet.
"This means their dung is naturally nitrogen-rich, which gives plants a jumbo boost."
EcoSci was started in 1994 and today composts some 40,000 tonnes of green waste in Devon alone, 50% of the county's recycling target.
