Music choices & the experience
    #26147828 -

Just got a question for some of you! When you guys tend to trip.. do you like to listen more to almost chill alternative music or? I LOVE rock and all of that good stuff. Heavy rock & some metal. That's usually the type of music I listen to when I workout to really get the blood pumping.

But, I've never listened to it when I trip.. not because it doesn't sound appealing.. just didnt know how it would register during a trip. I lean more toward very chill settle music.

Usually get a playlist set prior so I don't have to fuck with my phone during the trip. Can barely understand a phone half the time. So I prep it beforehand.

I'm assuming if I like rock and metal sober it would be magical while tripping. I just wasn't sure how well it would treat me because my emotions are very all over the place when tripping. So I've always kept it to chill music.. usually with little lyrics. I love getting lost in sounds. But I feel like I could build a whole new experience if I switched the playlist up.

Have you guys tried this before? Just wondering some of your experiences with it and how it was!

Thanks my fellow Shroomers

It really depends on the mood I’m in. I listen to reggae a lot when I’m tripping because it’s relaxing and the lyrics are uplifting but I also love rock as well. I mostly listen to classic rock like Led Zeppelin or Jimi Hendrix when tripping but I used to jam some heavy shit years ago and I loved it tripping.

It really depends on the mood and flow of the trip. But anything Pink Floyd is a definite go to. Especially, the wall. Anything Led Zeppelin is good too. I prefer harder stuff myself;(pantera; social distortion, five finger death punches older stuff)but have notice that the heavier the band the more distracting the music is. It's just seem to be obnoxious noise after a while. Volbeat and Shaman's Harvest are about the heaviest I can handle while tripping.

Sounds so cliche but Hendrix or most of that other late 60s stuff sounds perfect on acid. I’d assume with metal you’d hear and appreciate more of the intricacies and instrumental nuance. Mushrooms have never amplified listening to music for me.

It depends on the mood I'm in. If I'm feeling really anxious then I'll put on some really calm stuff, like Pink Floyd's early albums. On the other hand, if I'm having a good time and want to live a little, I'll put on Hendrix, The Beatles, The Doors, any of those classic 60s bands.

Recently though, I've had really excellent amazing experiences using classical music. I'm thinking I might switch to almost purely using classical music in the future just because it's gone so well in the past. I highly recommend trying classical while tripping if you haven't already.

One interesting note: I almost can't listen to The Beatles' Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite while tripping. It's just sounds so... close to tripping hard that it puts me into a really bad, frantic state of mind. I just can't do it, despite really loving that song when I'm not tripping.

acid and rock n roll go hand in hand.  rolling stones (especially an album like undercover) is some of the best shit you could listen to on lsd. dont know about mushrooms, could be a different story. I feel like Im more inclined to listen to somehting more chill /little darker on mushrooms like radiohead or something

I normally listen to rock, blues rock or alternative rock when sober but find lyrics distracting when on shrooms as it pulls your attention to it and you can't let go completely.

I have listened to fusion/funk (like Cory Wong) before and it was very nice but since I've found Shpongle it is difficult for me to listen to anything else while tripping on shrooms
I think Museum of Consciousness is one of my favorite albums.

I have not tried classical music and think I might give it a go

Oh yeah man.. I've heard of them before I actually just put that album in my playlist just now. I forgot all about them until you just said something.

I was just listening to some of their music as well.. that's some fucking TRIPPING MUSIC. I find lyrics to be a distraction as well. Don't get me wrong, I love listening to some of my favorite songs while tripping. But when you really want to get lost, I feel just sounds put you in a whole different type of oblivion. Especially the music they produce.

#1 rule is indulge thyself. Go with the flow. I spend the whole day before prepping everything I need so it's all right there when I need it and that applies to music. Whatever sounds good at the time, put it on. Oh shit I need a joint. Don't wanna listen to music, ok put a movie on. Guess I got distracted staring at fancy rocks. Put pants on. Wait where'd my shirt go. I literally do whatever the fuck I want, and I have a good time, every time. If you want death metal, go for it. I tend to go more for psychedelic rock, ambient, or certain hip hop selections if I'm feeling frisky. Like A Piece of Strange. But I can say my favourites have so far been Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You were Here, Are You Experienced?, Axis Bold as Love, and Watching Movies With The Sound Off. Museum of Consciousness was good too. Sometimes even putting movies on and just listening to the thing without actually watching it can be really interesting. Without context like visuals your mind can put together some weird shit. And the random sounds, lol. So fun. Drugs are good

Recently I love listening to slipknot on shrooms, makes me feel so confident and invigorated.
I could listen to anything on shrooms really, music is just perfect with them.
Also circa survives albums “on letting go” and “juturna” are pretty much all about psychedelics and sound amazing on shrooms.
