My beds are at about 5 inches, I use fresh spawn to manure, peat most as casing under an inch.
Things I have noticed over the years
1: critters do not tend to dig through my manure beds unlike my woodlover beds
2: layering works great
3: outdoor grows kick ass
Why not grow outdoors if you can?
Then you can have this be inside shroims outside healthy soil and happy bugs

Depending on where you are geographically, of course the PNW has an abundance of outside temperate types such as P Azures etc. which are wood lovers. Think fresh hardwood chips instead of manure.

Prepared area in the springtime, can cover the ground with cardboard, place a few inches of wood chips, cover with some spawn grown on Rye berries, then another layer of damp wood chips, finally covering with cardboard and or plastic to keep all moist and comfortable.  Uncover and keep watered in the fall/early winter and then enjoy.

Add more fresh wood chips in the spring.

Beautiful photographs.  These are grown outdoors in a tub it appears?
Do you cover with a tent to maintain humidity?

This may sound stupid to some: what if you give LC to cows. Just pouring it over their water tanks. Would the mycelium be digested? Or pooped out ready to take over.

Just black mulch from earth first. Like 2 buckets of mulch to a handful of mycopints

So i started some outdoor beds. I Have bubble wrap over the top while it colonizes. You guys think thats a good call or just let it breath?
The bubble wrap becomes completely saturated in moister after only an hour so of sitting on the subs.

Pics would help. I don't see why the bubble wrap would be a detriment. Without it you will need to water more often depending upon the weather.

It cuts off the air supply, which is the whole beauty of doing it outside.
If you're worried about it drying  then dig a hole so it can pull moisture from the earth.  The ground stays wet a couple inches down
