Casing spent cakes?

Hey all,

My friend had 2 cakes that only made 3 flushes so he desided to try to case them. He dunked each cake for 24 hours and made the casing. Do you think he'll get anything out of it?

Hmmm... after three flushes the mycelium might be too drained to handle that sort of thing. If they were already spent, though, it's definitely worth a try.

My cat has also been reading lately on taking spent cakes and burying them in a shady spot outdoors (with some straw or compost or something) to maybe get a small outdoor patch going.

Just food for thought.

Ive always thought that after the cakes are spent, you cant really put them back into colonization mode, and then back tof ruiting. You can case them, but dont break up the cake or it might not recover.

chill, thaikoh, it was just a suggestion. You can grow them outdoors too. No need to get all belligerent.

Has anyone ever just took a shit load of cow or horse shit...dug a HUGE hole or many little holes in their back yard.....and just covered a large every with this. I mean, does anyone have a yard that just has shrooms popping up everywhere?
