using spent cake mycellium as innoculant
    #857000 -

I was wondering if it would be possible to mince up a spent cake and put it in some sterile water to use as innoculant? if this wouldn't work is there any other way to use a spent cake this way?

Well i dont think the water idea would work. The only way to completely sterilize the water would be to PC it and not open it for innoculation. How would you get the innoculum in there?

I think there is an agar process to do this, not sure!

um, isn't distilled water sterile? and i thought if you minced it then the pieces of mycelium might be small enough to fit through the needle of a syringe so you could use the mycelium suspension that way.

Not necessarily. It?s sterile if you sterilize it.
But is your spent cake sterile?

Hey man, If you can't find any malt....use honey. I am sure you have probably read this before, but a tablespoon or 2 of honey in sterilized water works nicely.

It probably won't work. there's just too much bacteria around. It has been in the fruiting chamber where it's nice and humid. You could innoc some agar plates, but it dosn't sound like you have the means to do that. I would try using it to innoculate some pasturized straw. break it up, not too small, cause it is already spent, and mix with the cut straw or dung. make sure to not use too much bulk substrate, so you'll have a decent chance for success.
