Spent Cakes FRUITING OUTSIDE??

Is it true?
If you bury spent cakes outside, they fruit the following season?
If so, what's the best method? Break 'em up? Cover w/compost?
Let's discuss this! Anyone been succsessful?

most of the time it happens, if you are going to throw a spent cake, just dig up a hole and throw the cake inside, then cover with the soil, if you want you could cover it with a 1/2" - 1" compost layer. Meaning that the cake will be 1/2" - 1" away from air contact. If you want you could throw some water around circumference of that area, and just a little bit right on top of the compost layer. Necessarily I wouldn't say, "the next season," but in a fair amount of time... 1 month - 2 months. If we considerate rain, then the time may shorten. It also depends on the strain you are using, and where you are putting it.

Some strains might like a woodchip compost, or a dung compost, or just a simple peat/moss compost. Check out the strain you used, and what it grows best on (outdoors, like when you go hunting).

Wow... can you give details on your outside "hay tek"? Like do you chop the hay? Do you use old hay or new? Do you soak it and for how long etc. etc.?

When planting a new cake do use hay with that as well?
