Throwing in BFR with spent cakes outdoors?
    #805181 -

Hey growers,

I am going to be throwing my old casing into a flower pot of compost/verm/straw. I know that by the time its outdoors the mycelium has pretty much eaten all the nutrients so would it be ok to pour a little BFR into the mix? Would that invite mold or would mother nature stop molds? I mean i would grind up the casing, soak the pieces a little with straw water and covert them in BFR. The BFR would stick to the moise mycelium. That way the BFR would be eated my the myceium quickly, helping fruit size?

I know this is kind of a stupid idea but why not ask before i do? Would this help the casing grow more fruits? Would this create a contam issue? Any reasons not to try this?

Thanks
Fd

My friend has done that with nasty results.Only she used spent casings. After a few days they became a green furry mess. But she hasnt tried with just cakes. You may want to trow some compost of some sorts in with them in the garden. Its funny, with compost, the spent casings fruited fine even though the compost was rich in nutrients, germs didnt consume it. Probally because of the low adicic level. bluhoney
