Ditto on the 1TDU2 being the good choice if you are buying new.

For a 24"x24"x5.8" Hepa, with .3 micron I would be looking at this blower: DAYTON 1TDU2

Thanks ya'll, but that's not an option for me at those prices  I could cap out somewhere around $200~ shipped. Part of my problem with all this.

The 1tdt8 is a two speed blower. That's why there's two sets of numbers.

electric motor warehouse has the full graphs for dayton blowers, instead of the chart on the grainger site.

Laminar flow is when the air velocity is the same on all four side as well as center of the filter. If not you could create turbulence that sucks non filter air into your work area.
If you don't reach laminar flow no big deal. Just work close to the face of the filter.

Ayyy nice tip on the electric motor warehouse having the real full graphs. Would you believe me if I told you Grainger/Dayton themselves won't even supply this info or don't have it any more, I tried before to get the full graphs. +1

1tdT8 only has about 240 cfm @ 1.1" static pressure (~0.9" for the HEPA and 0.2" for the prefilter)  it's not really adequate. Maybe the guy using it has a 0.5" static pressure HEPA.

I know its not the answer you want but its the answer you need.

You’re gonna have to save up a bit for the 1tdu2 or try to find one second hand. You can probably get away with a slower blower but I’d just wait till I could afford that one personally.

It may seem like a lot of money but compared to buying a pre made flow hood its alot cheaper. Like 1/2-1/3 the cost. And if you ever decide to upgrade to 24x36 it will be powerful enough so think of it as an investment.

Also I wasn’t suggesting buying it from FP because they are marked up, I just did the research a year ago and managed to dig up what they sell because its unlabeled on their website, I’d get it from electric motor warehouse or grainger, although you might be able to find one on ebay for cheaper.

Thank you! And FUCKKKKKK.

At least that has the charts I was looking for. Why is that shit so hard to find?

It may be the answer I need, but it's not the answer I can afford  I get what you're saying, and I'm not here for pity, but that's wildly outside my budget for a lot of reasons that I don't feel like getting into in a public space.

It's just frustrating that there's nothing between the $150 blower and the $275 blower that would work, especially since that $275 blower is well above and beyond what I need. I'm not looking to upgrade at some point down the line either, and I wouldn't even be here asking about this if it wasn't for the extreme kindness I got in receiving the filter in the first place. I'm doing my best to work with what I've got and trying to find a solution I can afford  Thanks for all the help with this everyone.

You could probably get away with something like a 12" inline fan used in weed grows...or wait for a deal on the big blower you need.

Yeah, I know you did! I'm going to set up an alert on ebay for this. I've also started contacting a few other HVAC places further out and it's all the same damn line "We don't sell parts." When you don't have money but you have time... keep calling I guess

I was looking at those and wondering about that. That looks REALLY hard to get a good seal/build on. I saw that people here use them (even TCs)... do you think it would be easy enough to set up? I also ran into the issue that most seem to not have the technical specs for resistances and such. Do you have any experience working with these?

120 volt, 3 to 4 ton squirrel cage blower, direct drive, 1/3 to 1/2 hp should be all the info they need. Just say you are building a garage fan to ventilate.

Using this, I called (216) 228-8200 (idk if i can include that...)

anyways I was asked for rpm which i couldn't answer.

I was quoted $150 for there 1/2 HP, 3 speed
$145 for 1/3 HP, 3 speed

I didnt get much info on product detail but that is what she came back with when I provided the info you were told to.

I can give the company name, its not in your area, but if it works and you wanted to pay for it, I do happen to manage the shipping dept where I work and could certainly help get it to you....pretty good UPS rates

A lady friend of mine has a 24"x48"x 5.8" and has the 1tdu2. It a nice match up..
The next size blower down from the 1tdu2 does not have enough muscle..

Thanks ya'll. I'll get this sorted. I don't need to buy it today, so I'm going to have to keep working at it... or spend time saving things up I guess.

Well... I finally found one person who sells used parts, but doesn't have anything I'm looking for (either too big or too small)... up to 22 calls today. Going to take a break until tomorrow

If you do go with a inline blower, it's pretty easy to attach and seal it up actually. You just cut the hole with a jigsaw so it will sit in it and then just use some window sealing expanding foam in a can (blue cap not yellow) and spray in the gap to kinda glue it in there and seal it at the same time. I have done this before on an old hood many years back and it worked fine for me. Down side is if and when you are done with the hood you have to hack the fan out but it can be done...fan will be ugly after but ehh. Just another option for yas.

After making almost 100 calls (84 places!) no one was willing to sell me anything, except someone who had much larger blowers than I needed, and they were $250 anyways... So, I scraped and saved... but mostly I sold some shit that I didn't need any more. I got the money together and just ordered the Dayton Model 1TDU2 Blower from Electric Motor Warehouse. Thanks for all the help... ALMOST THERE!
