LFH Size Advice, 2x4 or 3x3, Which Would Be More Practical?

Would you prefer an LFH that is wider or taller?
3 feet seems like a plenty wide working surface. I was thinking the taller filter might be good for G2G transfers in large bags which are pretty tall. Plus it would take up a little less of my limited space horizontally.
Or, would you say that either size is just way overkill? I want to be comfortable working in front of my LFH and not cramped. Plus, the larger the filter/fan combo, the better it will clean the room air in the period before I begin working.
2x3 seems like it could be a nice working size but I haven't found one for a reasonable price yet.

They're all overkill compared to building a still air box big enough to work uninhibited in. Unless you do 100s of jars of spawn a week a hood is pretty damn overkill unless you like spending money on having Cadillac cultivation.
A friendly reminder tho you require better skilled sterile technique with a FH

Pretty funny! I guess I want to spend money on "Cadillac cultivation!"
I find a lot of procedures to be cumbersome inside the SAB, not to mention harder to see clearly.
By "better skilled sterile technique with a FH," do you mean such as how we place and move around items so that contaminants can't be blown off of them into the sterile (or partially sterilized) containers?
It would be very frustrating to see my somewhat high rate of success using a SAB decline with a LFH.
Thanks for the alternative view. Considering how much LFH's are encouraged here, it is interesting to also hear from the other side! I certainly see the fiscal practicality of your advice and it encourages me to watch RR's LFH video again

2x3 would be awesome but as you said, kind of expensive. Mine is like 20x22" which is comparable to the 2x2. It's comfortable enough to work with anything, including bags. Bigger is always better though, if you can afford it, a 2x3 would be incredible to own.
When I inoculate with wedges, I can fit 2 jars and the stack of plates in front of my hood so 2x2 is still pretty darn good.

Funny, my experience is exactly the opposite. As well as two other folks who I helped with their hood build. A SAB is just.. meh. You can get pretty good results if you get used to it but working inside a box will never be as comfortable as working unrestricted.
