Got my LFH built
Last thing to do is to tune the airflow
just curious if anyone can tell me about their experiences with this specifically how much air speed was reduced by a single filter
Im using a 12x24x24 filter and will be adding 1x24x24 filters before the blower

It just depends on how over powered your blower is compared to the hepa filter. I don't have a flow hood myself but it's a pretty simple concept that is easy to over think thanks to the math involved. But if you can afford to build a flow hood I'm sure you can afford to buy a few different filters to dial it in right. Try dialing it in just using cardboard or whatever might give you an idea how much pre filter you wanna add. I look forward to having a flowhood someday since i don't feel confident using a SAB. Prefilter isn't necessary but it will lengthen the life of your hepa filter but you can use cardboard until you find the perfect prefilter no rush. Peace brother and put tha baby to good use

If you are using a controller to adjust the blower, just hold a lighter in front of the flowhood to see the airflow. If the flame is blown off, there is too much flow. If the flame is not over 45 degrees, it is too less. Somewhere between 45 degrees and 90 degrees of the flame is the spot you want. Check the filter at different locations, it should all look the same.

Stack pre-filters on your fan's intake
A lighter flame should bend at a 90° angle

Anywhere between a 60° and 90° bend on the flame is fine.

Mine currently is struggling to stay lit and sometimes is going out , I have one at my dads shop ill be adding and 5 in the mail so hopefully that should be enough.
My concern is that I might stress the motor cause it too heat up and cause a fire or malfunction

Nice, I would paint the edges of the woodplates to make them a smooth surface to clean. Or iron such a plastic strap on they sell for that purpose.
