bertblack - I always take the manky ones - nice English verb that - I dry them out in a dehydrator and it is difficult to distinguish them from the non-manky ones.

Dunedin is going absolutely fucking bonkers! Found one of these in one chipped garden, absolutely nothing around it, found the other in another, same story. IDK if others got to them before me or if these are just all there were, but oof. Currently getting more rain tho, so hopefully it actually starts pumping in the city.

many people in auckland had luck finding? have been looking every week after a bit of rain and can't seem to find anything but non-actives..

Good luck!

No luck for me either so far. But even the search has been a good experience, I think I've lost almost 5kgs from all the walking and running I've been doing. Have been after Weraroa but am now also seeking out woodchipped areas and taking a long hard look at each one :laugh:

I only found my first two within Dunedin city yesterday, just hasn't been wet enough here prior. All other finds have been outside the city in more shaded or more damp areas.

Went for a walk in central Auckland, finally starting to find some bigger ones 😁  no luck with the wood chips yet but the bush has been good to me so far.
