like knowing that Bernie attracts independents and Republicans
but after all the issues with his supporters not being able to vote for him in the primary last time
due to either not being on, or having recently been purged from, the Democratic party's voter lists
hope that the unlisted numbers of people registered as Democrats who are donating is high
it would be frustrating as hell to see Bernie get pushed out in the primaries in favour of someone the registered members of the Democrats want to see again

Democrats and their tight ship on who can vote in primaries really struck me as one of the areas where Trump's run as a Republican instead was advantageous -- outside voters were able to come in and give him support in the primary and get him far enough along to be eligible for election in the first place

Let's be real, the Democratic party sucks. This is why I'll vote for Trump when the Dems fuck this up. I'd rather Trump be a total buffoon than elect a robot Democrat.

well, to my comprehension Trump had previously run as an Independent in prior presidential elections
and Bernie exists in the political sphere outside of elections as an Independent
but the two party system meant each of them had to adhere to party procedures to try and hold a meaningful place on the ballot
but the Democrats had states closed to general vote -- remember people on imgur complaining they went to vote for Bernie and were told they were no longer valid on the voter list

that is not even getting into the superdelegate issue that frustrated things further last time

it is just my hope that people who are disillusioned with the system are still able to recognize when/if they are going to have to sign up and participate in the system to get Bernie into the party nomination spot

Bernie is stealing my material on immigration!!  :awedance:

Here's more evidence that qman is is right on this:

Bernie Sanders: I don’t support open borders
Quote:
Sanders told an audience member at a campaign stop in Oskaloosa, Iowa, that he was mistaken in suggesting Sanders supports open borders.

“I’m afraid you may be getting your information wrong. That’s not my view,” Sanders said after the attendee asked the candidate how he would fund a social safety net if the United States had an open-borders immigration policy.

“What we need is comprehensive immigration reform,” Sanders said. "If you open the borders, my god, there's a lot of poverty in this world, and you're going to have people from all over the world. And I don't think that's something that we can do at this point. Can't do it. So that is not my position.”

Bernie is getting absolutely dragged on that comment on social media fwiw.

Bernie was always a compromise candidate for the left.

He's only compromising on issues that I believe are NOT the most important (imho) so that he gets support from both sides.

For the important things like Medicare for All, $15 minimum wage, free public college, taxing the super rich to benefit the rest of us, etc), he's uncompromising.

I think it's a smart platform.  Democrats might accept a pro-gun and anti-immigrant platform if he gives them the other things above.  Republicans might accept a better lifestyle at the expense of the rich, if they get to keep their guns, but not immigrants.

It would also help if Bernie pointed out Trump's failures on reversing the horrible trade agreements.

Why hasn't the MSM and Democratic Party pointed out Trump's trade deal failures?  Too busy with Russia conspiracy theories.

Bernie, it's time to speak up on this key issue. Why do so many D's/liberals disagree with Bernie on this issue?   CNN, Wash Post, NYT's aren't going to tell people the truth on global trade.

I would be overjoyed to settle for Medicare for all, taxing the super rich and a $15 minimum wage. I'm not even for completely free public education.

You think it would help Bernie if he sided with trump against the Democratic establishment. Yeah I’m sure that’ll play real well. Regular James Carville over here.

Well, Trump has failed and Bernie could point that fact out. Bernie could also explain the benefits of his trade proposals and attempt to sell them to his own supporters, while gaining new support from disappointed Trump voters.

If Bernie is afraid of the Democratic Establishment, what's the point of even running for office?

If he's afraid to agree in principle with Trump on a key issue, again, why even run for office?

Here, listen to the economic retards on TYT's, they think economic inequality can be solved with better public education.

No it isn't. The Establishment loves to blame labor for labor's problems.

The conservatives blame high schools and colleges for not teaching the proper skills, they blame drug usage and many other factors for the inequality.

Liberals also blame the economic inequality in the access to education. If only everything were more equal in education then the US peasants would have more economic prosperity. It's all bullshit.

The reason why the bottom 80% has experienced declining real wages for the past 40 years is because of globalization and immigration!!  We have more educated citizens than ever before, that's NOT the issue.

Do you want to fix some of the inequality?  Reverse the tax cuts and give the same amount of tax reduction to the payroll taxes. That has NOTHING to do with the quality or access to public education.

Just because there are bigger factors to wealth inequality doesn’t mean abysmal education funding isn’t a factor.

You do realize that SS payments always went into the general fund?  And that the US has $22 trillion in debt today?

So what difference does it make IF we run higher deficits due to tax cuts for the wealthy or tax cuts for the working class?  It doesn't.

Personally I'm never voting for a politician again. I don't trust any of them. He wasn't even for marijuana legislation until get got older so it's hard to tell what he actually believes in. Because of the school shootings he wants to make rifles illegal. The school shooters used hand guns not rifles. I don't trust the old fart just like I don't trust Hillary or trump. Let's put a younger guy in there that isn't a politician or in the 1% of American. Why do we always make rich people president! It doesn't make any sense!

If didn't take a lot of funding of education to work in a manufacturing plant making a solid wage in the 1950's-90's. You do realize many blacks with not even a HS education were able to work for companies like GM for decades and now receive a great pension to this day?

Those plants are now in Mexico with Julio working for 1/10th the US wage, what is his educational level?  Let me guess, they TRAINED him for the job instead of blaming the Mexican educational system. :rofl2:
