It’ll be like a swear jar where you have to put a quarter in every time you swear,  but for carbon emissions.

Maybe in the future, we will have to pay taxes on how much fast food we get per year.

Have you ever heard of Katie Hopkins?

She used to float the satirical idea around that heavier people should pay extra money for air travel. For the extra luggage.

For air travel every pound actually makes operating a plane more expensive. Airlines have strict weight limit for baggage because they don’t really have any restrictions on passengers. I guarantee you that a flight full of obese customers would be above the max takeoff weight for commercial jets on a long haul.

On a half full flight, distributing fat passengers evenly in the cabin would be an issue.

Planes have load cells in their landing gear so they can accurately measure the weight and weight distribution of the plane in real time for that exact reason. I’m sure many of us have been on flights where people have been rearranged.

How is the realty of climate change not painfully obvious by now? Despite all the talk about polar vortexes, only one state was colder than average. 26 states were warmer than average. 1/3 of those were significantly warmer.

I'm always curious why people appear to believe we can do anything to stop natural climate change. Even if we could they fail to ask if we should. There has been far more atmospheric CO2 in Earth's history, and the Earth has remained very stable and able to sustain life during those times. CO2 is mostly harmless to humans and contrary to popular belief it is not a lack of oxygen that forces you to breathe, it is in fact a rise of CO2 and it is also essential for hemoglobin to function. From everything I've read and watched increasing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere isn't exponential and doesn't compound the effects. The sort of water vapor needed to create a toxic greenhouse gas effect on the environment would be from the oceans evaporating, which isn't tied to temperature it is tied to solar radiance, not melting ice sheets.

Are you aware of the climate research being done about solar activity and it's effect on the climate? It's been a large missing piece of climate research, and many of it's effects on our atmosphere are attributed to humans in the current consensus climate models. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs13351-018-7101-2 This study is focused on China's own climate, but the opposite is true for the other side of the world. Basically what it says is that strong solar activity (the Sun is currently at grand solar maximum) leads to cooler temperatures in China and due to axial precession we can state the opposite is true for the other side of the world, America. They're nearing record colds and we're nearing record highs. So despite the extreme polar vortex effect, which is shared because we have the same Sun, temperatures were still high even for states that were affected by it. There are a number of other things the Sun and cosmic rays interact with in the atmosphere that are also being studied and soon to be included in climate models.

So while you may be able to show that temperatures are increasing you are not able to produce sufficient evidence as to why, assuming you believe it is human caused climate change. They will continue to increase for a time and eventually come back down as the Sun proceeds through it's natural cycle.

My next door neighbor was probably the world’s leading expert on the solar aspect of climate change. He was even somewhat a publicly out spoken skeptic, writing several NYT editorials and was a friend of Fred Singer (whose flat tire I changed once., despite him being a merchant of death). Anyway, even he came around before he died. He was always a proponent of green technology tho and they own two Teslas and have solar panels.

Anyways the point is I spent hours talking about this subject with him, so yah I know the subject really well.

The solar cycle is clearly visible in the temperature data. You see plenty of six year upward  trends then six years of flat or downward movement. The fact remains that the upward movements are greater than the downward ones and temperatures continue to rise.

And just FYI we are currently entering peak solar minimum.
