Unearned wisdom
    #25916469 -

What are your thoughts?

Do you pay the price for what you gain from the psychedelic experience?

I wonder how it altered the life tou would live.

Alienation from society?

Inability to be empathized towards?

What do you guys think, this is a pessimist view but is it a double edged sword the wisdom you gain?

Is it given to easily to those who didn't earn it ?

Here's some perspective on what I'm asking about

most people live a life of expectations, a series of familiar experiences, psychedelics take that all away, so yes you pay with your life, best to have a new one lined up before burning that bridge

these are problems of the psyche, psychedelics can solve these problems if used properly

words are a double edged sword, wisdom is a plasma cannon

all wisdom is earned, unearned wisdom is ignorance

I don't think most people gain any wisdom from psychedelic use, in most cases I think they're far removed from it.

All you could gain from it is personal peace, not knowledge about the universe.

Ok, don't get too caught up on the word wisdom, it's kind of a blanket title in this case

What I'm asking is what you think about the effect psychedelics have on you and your life mainly and whether what is gained from them comes eirh a price

Some of it was briefly touched on

And I don't even have Facebook, it was an easy way to share what was said in reference to "unearned wisdom"

Geez guys...

I don’t think you’ve pointed out what you think is gained.

So maybe what is gained is a question for here?

that complex does not smell like wisdom, but does smell of stoner attitude.

wisdom is in tune with how things fit together and it results in more compassion, creativity, custodianship etc.

of course you can call anything a potato or wisdom

I guess personally I've gained a lot, changed a lot

Radically transformed my perspective

Gained insight into the workings of myself and society

Sometimes I wonder if there was a cost, as I also feel it in some ways made me less able to fit in with society, a bir of alienation

And what I am left to do with my new found perspective, values, things like that, no longer feeling as if I can fulfill the worker bee role in pursuit of materialism

Ok guys ignore the word wisdom then

That's not really what it's about, I don't want people getting hung up on that. I called the post unearned wisdom as I felt like what Jung said was what i was relating this too, and he called it unearned wisdom, so it fit in my head.

as you emerge more and more from your muddle - even as Jung did - then, yes, you earn wisdom, and what is just a fog, blows away.

even the terms "society", "alienation", "loneliness" take on different meanings depending upon where you are at.

sometimes they are oppressive, at other times they are like medicines or marketplaces.

Ok redgreen, basically i have worried about psychedelics having a neagtive effect on me i was unaware of.

Kind of like Mickey mouse taking on the role of the magician where he animates the brooms for water, only to find he has lost the ability to control or stop them, then suffers the unforseen consequences

I guess I'm being foolish

But this has been something on my mind

The inability to unsee what has been seen

Of course I would never go back if I could, maybe that's my answer.

But these things have been on my mind recently... And have been before as well.

Guess I just wondered if other people have felt this way or what they think of it

I can see gaining insights into your own workings, but relating that to those of society seems a bit different.
Perhaps it's about how you relate yourself to those within your society?

For me I found that the views I developed weren't shared among a great deal of my peers and in some ways it alienated me but in others it also brought me closer to those I felt more in tune with.

For something else, related to Jung and his personality test, I don't like how it labels people because I believe we change over time and I've personally gotten differing results as the years passed; as I've grown and developed as a person.

So I don't think Jung accounted for personal development in his test and for me it nullifies the point of the test, to label someone. Might be like advanced astrology IMO.

There could be an issue doing them too often if you're chasing after a revelation.

Doing them at all if you're after a revelation probably isn't advisable :haha:

If you're after a certain feeling of content then hey, maybe there is something to it. That or if you're unprepared and rush things you could end up in a psych ward XD

P.S. I knew a guy who did that (over did psychedelics without any prep or knowledge of how much he took) and spent 3 days curled in a ball on his bed before going to a psych ward for 2 weeks.. his parents weren't pleased so I heard.

Well at this point I think I'm past the rushing ahead into deep waters

I've kind of chilled out and spend more time in between trips and more time implementing into society lately

For a while i was tripping a lot, often

Maybe i just burned myself out a bit

I've worried about being the guy you describe, treading too deeply too quickly and finding himself drowning, so to speak

I'll probably take some time to come back to baseline, i recently had a very strong experience on somewhere between 200-400 mic lsd

Kind of left me contemplating my sanity a bit...

Talking to my one close friend and family has helped me feel better

It's also getting warm out again so I think spending time out in nature after the winter will do me some good

I appreciate the feedback

Re: Unearned wisdom [Re: Enkidu]

It's like what are you really looking to gain? I know someone who said you can see into the soul of an animal when it dies and he's never done psychedelics. He's very mystically inclined and seems to exaggerate the day to day in such a sense, and I think his mysticism kind of holds him back. That or it protects him.

The other guy I described just closed his eyes and opened his mouth, I haven't heard that he got anything out of his experiences. (but he's a cool and collected dude on his own nowadays, as far as I know)

Man that's a lot, Lucy isn't something I think can be good for healing. It's too extreme and acute, it doesn't have such smooth insights and keeps you awake to a point of ponderance of why you can't sleep.

Getting out is nice, E-bikes are cool too.

What do you see as a divide now that you've had this experience? If you actually see one that is.

I haven't really heard about how these experiences have affected people after the fact either.

In my opinion the only thing you gain is from within yourself. Honestly most of that is your ego telling you your wise and the drugs just feed your ego once you've learned to handle it. It tends to reinforce what is already there. I am not saying they are bad, but I don't ever see that by getting high or tripping I am sacrificing anything for anybody. As far as I can see wisdom is gained by experience...not by drugs. If you can get over yourself the drugs might give just a little perspective. Also my wisdom may be dumb to some people.

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

This post wasnt meant to be about wisdom

More so the lack of wisdom and/or maturity

"What do you see as a divide?" I would like to answer but not sure what you're asking :/

"What are you really looking to gain?"

At this point two things

Deeper insight into myself as well as possibly the world

And a satisfaction to curiosity about what is contained within the experience. Or in other words, I'm curious

Mushrooms in particular for me habe always been about healing and learning. Both medicine and a sort of spiritual practice. I usually consider mushrooms "work" while lsd for me has been more recreational.

But these tabs i have were much much stronger than anticipated and became an experience of deep evaluation of my life and future

I was told they were 200 mic and I'm convinced they were at least 100 mic, but I don't normally trust people who tell me their tabs are dosed that high

All i know is it was mich stronger than both I and my friend expected from 2 tabs

Honestly I feel much better currently as well as more at peace with where i am in life and where I will be going

I think this recent experience just shook me a bit but I may already be starting to regain balance

paranoia, worrying about unknowns is simple self doubt, take a half step back and assess your life with objective eyes, are you doing what you want?

Enkidu said:

but the consequences were not entirely unforseen, he was warned not to fuck with magic, it was a cautionary tale about knowing how to work with energy without getting burned, namely, pay attention

What do you see as a divide was referring to this.

I suppose I was wondering how come you thought you didn’t fit in with society?
