The plant appears to be healthy but it’s putting out flower buds. I think that cauliflower shit is a fungi.

It looks fungal.  Especially because of the slimy looking border, unless thats just from the photo.

Hopefully ITS NOT A TOOMAH!

It got a haircut before I try and graft a seedling on to it. I actually like the way it looks and might do it to another one I have like it.

If that's not fungus then "cv. Koike"?

Seems like that Copiapoa could produce quite an apical tuft when flowering and i think the tufts are for evaporating water but if that's what it is it does look overly wet and perhaps infected somehow.. which does make sense if it is cellulose cotton-like material and you allowed it to stay wet for too long, seems like a good substrate for a lignicolous fungus.

Well I was watering right before I took the pictures. It used to have cotton like tufts. Now it’s just like cauliflower, looks and even feels like it. The other 7 heads look fine. Just the largest one is weird.

I put together a summer home for my collection of clearance rack rescues,(and a couple of my trichos)in an old wooden crate that had been laying around.

Gonna sit down with the wife and decide how to arrange them. :getstoned:
Then get them set and top with pea gravel or something.
I still have these and others indoors I have to do something with.
