That?s one very impressive collection you have there. I like the Trichocereus Peruvianus Monstrosus and all Cristate the best. I am sure there are lots of more pictures on the way! I hope to take some more pictures of my young seed grow collection, no monstrosus or cristate type yet :frown:

Beautiful collection

Did you have any trouble grafting the crested cacti? I'm thinking of taking a graft  of mine, any special instructions?

I'm going to attempt growing T. peruvianus from seed soon. Any tips or special things to know so I can have it go smoothly? I've read several guides, but they don't address everything I need to know.

None at all actually. Some of the mutated cacti have oddly shaped vascular rings which can make things a little tricky, but that's pretty much it. No special instructions... it's pretty easy. I do it ghetto style too. I'll post pics of some of the grafts that I have in the humidity chamber later. You should graft your crested cacti... I really like the way they look on top of pedros. What kind do you have?

My cacti
It's some sort of crested cacti, I was never able to find out the actual species name.  As soon as I get some more grafting stock I'll have to look into grafting it. I was unaware that could be done  Thanks very much

Thanks, Psilocybe.

I have one of those trays of peat pots that come with the plastic dome cover. I figure that will be essentially the same as what you described with the flats and ziplock bags. It's encouraging to hear advice from somebody with personal experience, and results that I can see for myself.

I have 100 T. peruvianus seeds, and will be germinating many soon. I'd like to have seveal of these cacti as decorative pieces both inside and outside of my house.

One last thing. Do you know if growing Sceletium tortuosum is much different than gowing cacti? I am also looking to grow a few of these. From what I've read, it's very similar to grow them, but that in the germinating process, you sometimes need to dry the soil out completely once or twice before they will germinate. I don't know if you have any experience growing this or not. It just seems that guides never address everything that one should know before growing.

Once again, thanks for your help.

They grow under the same conditions, full sun, warm temps as cacti. They like more water in my experence.

Germination can be helped by shaking the seeds in sandy water. You could do this several times. Between each shaking you could filter out the sand seed mix and allow too dry. This should remove the growth inhibitors and scratch the seed surface to allow water to penatrate.

I have had success with a simple 24 hour soak then planted, but they took a long time.

Its has also been stated that they need a good drop in temperature from day to night. ---- I hope this helps.

Thanks again, PC, and thank you as well SalviaEngland.

I think I'll try that sandy water technique. What type of soil have you found to work the best?
