Eating Kratom for 3, almost 4 weeks daily (1 kg) was what helped me kick alcohol in a similar position as you.
Going on 4 years now since that great experiment.

If you're going to replace a vice with another, make sure the latter is exponentially safer.
Stims..Not so much so.
Opioid like leaf, yuh.

Ironically enough I also use Kratom for when I want to quit other drugs. Since it won't make me fail a piss test (Fuck my job) it's one of the few things that make you feel great and can help out especially if you are feeling down and need a pick me up.

Of course, don't replace one addiction for another, but at least Kratom aint killin your liver...

Replacing an alcohol addiction with a stimulant (that's very similar to cocaine) doesn't sound like a good plan.

If one is wanting to use some other "drug" to quit or taper off a hard drug like alcohol, I think something that's more mild & benign than a stimulant would be ideal...something like kratom and/or kanna and/or kava would be a much better candidate IMO.

Ritalin is less detrimental to the body physically than alcohol is, so if you're wanting to stop drinking the stuff I guess that's progress in some ways from a physical-health stand point...but ritalin is still a straight up stimulant that's comparable to cocaine (tho the ROA isn't up the nose), so if you're wanting to break your addiction I wouldn't consider it any sort of progress.

You're just going to end up getting hooked on Ritalin and when your supply runs out you'll be drinking again. I've heard kratom works well but personally I just smoke weed.

Also this is a no brainer but don't hang around with your friends when they are drinking, hard at first but it gets easier and if they really care about you they will understand your absence.

Wishing you the best my dude, alcohol is the worst drug out there.. and its legal.

Try going to a meeting....just being around other dudes with the same affection for booze may help.

I find meetings can intensify my love for the obsession. For me, meetings can be a type of worship service. Bowing down before the powerful baffling and cunning ethanol molecule. All all of the talk of powerlessness makes me feel helpless and powerless. A diseased person and a lifetime of recovery.

I'm not an alcoholic, but I used to drink a lot and pretty often. Once I started on Kratom I naturally stopped drinking as much. Now I only have 1 or 2 drinks a week and it wasn't something that I set out to do. Kratom itself is addicting so you have to watch out for that too.

Krat, exercise, and even a couple AA meetings would be a good start. After the hard work of beating addiction you will see that life is better when you don't wake up hungover and need a drink or drug to get you through the day.

Good Luck!

It's interesting there's disagreement about the definition of an "alcoholic".

Notice how many people claim they once were an "alcoholic" . . .

Yet many "experts" claim alcoholism is a "chronic, progressive, lifetime disease"

For some people it is

You can either control your drinking when you drink or you can't, I'd say for most people there isn't really an inbetween

When you trade one daily for addiction for another you're not really "accomplishing" anything IMO/IME. I've yet to find any substance I can use daily that doesn't come with it's own problems. Also IME, when you don't have the thing you traded for, and the thing you're trying to quit is more readily available, you just go back anyways.

Unless it's dangerous to do so (I.E. benzo addiction) it's best to just cold turkey it, but it requires you to have the desire and will power to completely quit. It's not easy but I'm convinced pretty much anyone can do it if they want to bad enough, the question is do you want to bad enough?

I really have very little will power when it comes to drugs (or at least did in the past) but I managed to quit benzos. I did taper but it far from made the withdrawal "easy".. I was just trying to make sure I wouldn't die. It was still hell to get through and required a lot more will power than I even knew I had to stick to it. I did fuck up and start using them again, but I had already quit and was over all the withdrawal for quite awhile before I convinced myself I could just use them here and there and be okay.

I have a good amount of experience with addiction unfortunately.

I'm about to start microdosing mushies after this next harvest. I've never drank heavy but no matter how I cut back or how much, I always end up back to daily beer and/or whiskey.

If you're looking for a euphoric type of experience I'd personally recommend Kratom + Phenibut. Both are legal in the US and combined give an amazing head rush and feeling of euphoria. However, do keep in mind they're both addictive and I'd say even more so together. Basically, just try to be responsible, obviously. Best wishes.

Recommending Phenibut to an alcohol abuser is extremely irresponsible. Phenibut is the most habit forming gaba agonist I can think of. People have been known to have significant withdrawals after using it for only 48-72 hours.

Today I relapsed and ended up drinking wine and beer.

I understand now why most people don't get hooked on alcohol, it's such a shitty feeling if you drink too much.

Vodka feels so much cleaner and natural

I ended up buying vodka and had to bury it in the woods to stop me from drinking the whole bottle.

the problem about weed is that I don't have connections, so I'm planting my own, they're still small so i can't smoke it.

sometimes i smoke the leaves and i find it awesome, such a trippy relaxed feeling, if I had an abundance of it I would never drink again.

Dont feel bad about a relapse man, it happens but what I would say is switching to vodka is a slippery slope, as is hiding it especially if you're hiding it from family or friends.
