I know almost nothing about aborts.  What does that mean exactly and what can I do about them?  Does that mean they just wont grow fully or what?

Good job on your brf cakes. Aborts are gonna happen its fungi life. Use the search function and you can gain more knowledge on aborts.:surprise:

Pins too dry = aborts
Pins too wet = aborts

Don't let cakes dry out too fast, and make sure there is no standing water on top of pins still a day after you mist. This increases risk for aborts and sick fruits. It's Okey to mist pins directly as long as they don't get waterlogged from prolonged wetness. Make sure sufficient evaporation has occurred before replenishing with the spray bottle again. Cakes benefit from 'breathing' this way as they suck moisture in and evaporate it off.
