In reply to:
wait... could i spawn the brf colonized cakes onto something that would make them more potent... if so, what? something that would be kinda easy to sterilize or pasturize
Poo, straw, or a poo/straw combo.

I have had great results with the PF strain (Matias Romero?) on cakes. First timer am I, at growing. Read my sad tale in the trip tips, posted about an hour ago

Well first you can cut up your straw, I do it by hand with scissors (it takes a long time, but I don't mind it ) cut it into 1-3 inch pieces.
Then you could soak the straw overnight (remember straw floats, so weigh it down with something, I soaked the straw in a 10 gallon bucket, then place another 10 gallon bucket on top and I weighed the straw down fine.) Also make sure your poo is dry.
After the straw has soaked for 24 hours (don't know how long it HAS to be, 24 hours is how long I do it) and the poo is dry, place both in a pillow case, mix it up real good, then pasteurize. You'll have to look up how to do that.

When I grew Golden Teacher on BRF cakes they were fukin great. I can honestly say that they were as strong as the mushrooms that I purchased from the main mushroom gallery in Amsterdam (the one with glass mushrooms everywhere).... Cakes are wicked...

in reference to store bought dung, make sure it has a low moisture content and doesn't contain fungicides

It depends, if you can get straigh cow manure, then it will work (not quite as good a poo straight off the farm). If you can't find any good poo, just use straight straw until you can find poo. I think it was Lazyvegan that posted not too long ago that he just looked in the phone book and started calling stables, he said they were more than happy to give away their poo, some even offered delivery, now that's some good shit.

Actually, yes. Many people use horse manure for legitimate fertilizing purposes. Just call them and tell them you'd like to start making compost now, so in the spring the compost will be ready and you can plant roses for your dear mum.

http://sporelab.com/blue.htm this guy is alright no matter what a few people on this board say about him. I'm not sure about results with this but I do know one time it contaminated somebodies shrooms and he took full responsibility and sent out more poo the next day I'm not sure how he repaid the guy for the lost cakes but the guy came out satisfied.
If not that then theres always the dung brothers but I can't find a link I'm sure somebody will post one when they read this though.
p.s. I'm going to be buying some dung from sporelab next month so if you buy some then please keep me updated on your harvest.

Dude, that's cool and all, but why pay for poo when you can get it, and LOTS of it for free. When I got my poo (from calling some guy that put an ad in the classifieds (how funny is that)) I went and filled up 5 big rubbermaids, and he was like "Are you sure you don't want more, I could just fill the bed of your pickup" All I'm saying is why pay when you can get it for free.

I'm a new grower, but I've tripped plenty and the PF Tek (cased) worked great for me. B+'s - 3 grams dry had me tripping hard.
Of course, that was 3 grams of mostly aborts.

Skid, you gotta realize there is a big difference between poo you pick up in a filed and compost, of which poo is just one ingredient and which goes through a long process until it becomes compost.

I realize that difference, but both are usable, both are good, compost is better, but poo that you gathered from the field (as long as it has been dried properly) is a fine bulk substrate to work with. I don't understand where you were going with this one.
