Don't pretend that you haven't seen me around here decrying identity politics for years.  You might fool the lurkers, but you're not fooling anyone that pays attention.

I'm not pointing to you specifically, but many around here very conveniently turn a blind eye to identity politics coming from the left.

It's all fun games until it hits home. It's very similar to always believing the "victim", it's great until you're the one being accused.

it's a silly trope anyway.  The "Bernie is an evil, old, white guy" routine will only draw the most ignorant and rabid hillary voters.  That won't stop the media from trying though.

I'm really sick of lefties engaging in identity politics, or blaming whitey. I see people around this forum do it a lot. You're not going to get anywhere by attacking white people.

Just the other day, I saw yet another conversation on here about white privilege. I'm sorry, but like it or not, that's a turn off to white people, and we don't want to hear it. It is a component of left wing racism, and it is not a battlefront that we should be fighting on. It is damaging to white candidates.

Whites don't have the privilege of not being harassed by police. They have the right to not be harassed. We should be fighting for blacks to have that right, not pointing the finger at whitey.

I agree with what you're stating, but here's the deal and it's a very tough pill to swallow. You can't have Bernie socialist UNITY policies and constantly demonize a entire demographic at the same time, it's NEVER going to work.

You can't have Bernie socialist UNITY policies and be more of an advocate for immigrants than US citizens.

You can't have Bernie polices and be more concerned with the global community than the US, it's never going to work.

I don't think Bernie is as pro-immigration as you think he is. He may not want to build a wall, but he has never been supportive of unfettered immigration. I don't think Bernie is more concerned for the global community than the US either.

I think you are confused.

I missed Nina Turner, but she's absolutely fuckin great. I remember thinking back in 2016, that she would be a great candidate for president.

Talcum X gave a great speech!

I was speaking in generalities and not specifically to Bernie himself. He should also clarify his positions on those issues to avoid any confusion, but something tells me he won't.

Immigration is an issue, that I think Bernie will not speak about as much as many of his other issues. Before he ran in 2016, he was very anti-immigration. I believe he supports a pathway to citizenship, but he is certainly not the greatest champion of unfettered immigration. Many on the left do not support unfettered immigration. It's a silly idea, and it is a radical reaction to the rhetoric that we hear from the right.

liberal identity politics is a black president doing capitalism, and a woman Secretary of State overthrowing sovereign nations.

leftist identity politics is true intersectionality. Promoting policies that actually help oppressed groups.

Medicare for all will help those groups a million times more than Hillary dabbing on the Ellen show ever will.

When people bemoan identity politics, it’s important to figure out what exactly they mean by that. Ball seems to be annoyed with the liberal version, because it shortchanged and undermines actual intersectionality. Qman just thinks it’s cheating to pander to voting blocs other than WASPs.

I think balls' thought process is similar to mine on this issue. We both firmly support egalitarianism, on all fronts, but the way of achieving an egalitarian society is not by dividing our issues by racial, cultural, or religious demographics.

How anyone intends to achieve equality, while treating the grievances of the people (which are largely quite similar), as if they do not carry equal merit, based on demographic, is beyond me.

There is not a time in American history, where whites and blacks had so many similarities in the problems they have with our political process. That should be unifying.

Make no mistake, the people in power promoting this identity politics nonsense have no goals of creating any unity, they want the complete opposite.

Unfortunately, many of the left have fallen for this scam and can't see outside of the box, which essentially guarantees a constant clash of political goals and interests. The Elite win once again.

For every policy that "helps oppressed groups", there's a "perpetrator" demographic that's responsible for the perceived oppression.  That's where the conflict comes into play.

BTW, I have no issue with "pander to voting blocs", but stop vilifying certain groups in the process.
