Licky’s first shoebox

I just made my first shoe box and want to thank everyone here for all your help from my first agar plats to bods oat tek to mushboys and bods shoe box teks and bods bucket tek also I want to thank everyone who’s given me advice and help to this point thank all of you guys. So now For my first shoe box I used 2 and a half quarts coco coir to one quart spawn golden teachers. This is my first tub and in the next few days and weeks I’ll be adding 20 more.

With a 1:2.5 ratio probably about two weeks depending on temps. Make sure you have a little bit of GE whilst colonising

Should I open the lid a crack if so how long per day?

I just make a 1/4" hole in the lid and cover with MP tape

Or just flip the lid.
For cubes I usually see pins day 15/16.

Just made another shoe box with 2 quart spawn to 2 quarts substrate . Do you think it will colonize faster then the first one? What time fram am I looking at with this one?

Looks like hyphae. Don't worry about it, and stop opening the tubs. Forget they exist for the first 10 days minimum. Don't open them, don't touch them, don't even look at them. You'll see pins around 2 weeks in if you just leave them alone and let them do their thing. Opening the tubs is just letting moisture out and sucking contaminants in.

You've got plenty of spawn to experiment with sub ratios and sub/spawn volume, which is the beauty of the shoebox. You can fuck up 90% of 10 tubs and still end up with a harvest.

I decided to case all of the shoeboxes with coco. Is that the right thing to do? The surface was turning dry and one of my boxes really took off after doing it a couple days ago .
