These are actually not even the biggest I've grown indoors on trays. Biggest was 18g dry.

no fans needed. maybe if you have a room of 500 shoeboxes. they get plenty of FAE through the lids.

Thanks so much for the great write-up. I'm hoping to give this a shot once I get some clean cultures going on agar. I'm curious why there are no liners on the shoeboxes? Is there a functional reason for their absence or are these containers small enough it just isn't worth the trouble?

Liners are optional in any tub. If you can provide proper conditions for pinning on the surface, you should have very little side pins.
Think of a liner like training wheels. Usee em if you like
