If I didn't live in the city, I'd pick up and process fresh.  But being in the city, it's this, or dehydrated poo.

I wonder if it would yeild the same results as above.

For any of you considering alternative brands of store bought manure I suggest you read up on them. Before I came across Black Kow I bought a bag of Moo-nure without having any knowledge of it. Before trying it out I did a search here and found it had been used before and basically suck ass. Not to say there isn't brands out there that work just as well but BK seems to have some credibility. I got lucky that a Lowe's nearby is the only store in my state that sells it.

I went through 3/4 of a bag of timberline brand cow manure/compost, and it worked well. I found it at maynerds, and wally world. It had a more dirt/sand than bk.

Price to volume also.  One brick of coir is about 5 dollars,. That's the price for a bag of black kow that might do more then one tub.

One brick of coir is nowhere near $5. A pack of 3 bricks isn't even $5 if you buy smartly. Either way, storing enough coir for 50 tubs is going to take up a fraction of the space as the bag of manure. But definitely worth trying for something coprophilous. I have a bag somewhere around here.

I found bk on sale for a dollar a bag a while back. Cant beat that, lol.  All joking aside, I hope nobody thinks that I am trying to say bk is better than coir, or it should replace it. I just wanted people to see that there is other options, I havent looked online for coir, but locally the cheapest I could find it was like two or three something a brick I think.

 I had a case of the dumbs this morning.  Ment threepack.    Your right on the space savings.  Out of a 50lb bag of BK, how many standard mono's do you get?

For sure. I was just responding to him and hoping he's not paying that much, heh. I definitely didn't expect to be able to use this from the bag. Great post. I'll try at some point soon.

I couldnt say, i just started getting into bigger tubs. I suppose one could calculate how manys quarts would be in,(x) cubic ft of material? Theres apps that can break stuff like that down into smaller quantities. I might look into that...

I use wbs, usually 1:1-1:1.5. I just put a layer of bk after mixing sub, so all grains are covered. Ive cased a few times, didnt notice a significant difference. I have 4 pe boxes currently going, 3 were cased, 1 wasnt, the one that wasnt, is now halfway threw first flush. The other three are just starting to pin.

I was wondering how this Black Kow thing was working out. I’ll have spare qts running around soon and would love to do a shoebox or two of this.

Thanks for getting back to me, I inoculated 10 jars of PES Hawaiian and another 10 with Colombian Rust spores. I used an oat prep I plan on mixing with this tek. Its my second run ever. Fingers crossed. Again, thanks, I appreciate feedback.

Pour water on it and sniff. Mine smells straight up like an Exxon shitter in July.

Haven't had much luck with BK for pans, but I've been using it to fruit outdoors and it
works great for that.
