So apparently my search was in vain and you won't find Black Kow at least in Western Canada.

Painters tape!!! That thought crossed my mind a few times! yeah micropore is a pain in the arss to get off (
I'm gonna try painters too!

by the way I tried your suggestion! I just spawned some grains in the freshly opened bag of cow compost! without taking out anything or pasteurizing it, I figured like you said if it doesn't go bad or moldt in the bag being left outside in the gardening store section exposed to any kind of weather for so long then chances are good mycelium can colonize it!

so far its looking promising! 3 days in!
