How common is 'losing control' on psychedelics for you? * 1
    #25537365 -

I've had an irrational fear in the last few trips that going outside or trying to communicate with anyone would lead to almost delirious actions, with me losing track of what I'm actually doing or perhaps getting in trouble. I've tripped quite a bit, but I'm trying to figure out just how irrational it is.

Even though I can still get around my environment and remember where I am and be self conscious about how I'm acting, I'm still sometimes in fear that I'll for the first time just totally lose control, with nothing I can do about it, and cease to function even semi-normally.

I'm aware that this is super personal, and the stock answer is going to be 'if you're not sure, don't try anything'. But I'm just curious how common it is for you guys to have those trip experiences where people humiliate themselves or start to attack people or get crazy delusions. Throughout my trips there's really nothing like this, I just start thinking about stories and end up paranoid about whether or not everything I'm seeing is real and wondering about just how out of it I could become.

I have to ask because it seems like so many people can go out on what are semi-high doses for me and seem to function just fine, having conversations and walking around and occasionally getting overwhelmed, but snapping back to it.

I'm just not sure if this is a case of 'yeah, mushrooms should be done in your room unless it's a low dose and you're sure' or if it's a matter of just learning to trip around others.

Depends on which psychedelic. Mushrooms I wouldn’t want to be out in public on anything over 2.5-3 grams. Acid I’m usually fine in public up to 100ug though I do get raptured at times during the peak in songs or interesting trains of thought.

I have friends who take two hits and handle themselves perfectly fine. I myself am prone to trance as it is so I find that lesser doses get me to where other people go with much higher ones. Everyone’s different.

So far I’ve never “lost control” but after a few humbling mushroom ego-deaths the concern is always there...lol.

I can handle 200ug in public. Shrooms are very unpredictable. Things can go wrong very fast

I find it's probably best to make this more of a personal thing and take Psychedelics by yourself, rather than trying to socialize on them, if you're wanting to socialize, probably shouldn't take over a certain amount, or may wanna add some anti-anxiety agent to the mix, maybe some Lemon Balm (instead of something like Xanax or Alcohol), because certain plants/oils/supplements/substances can alter/flavor things in interesting ways and make things smoother so that interacting in public would be possible even on a higher dosage. Mainly though, the come up is the only part you have to worry about, after the come up once things stabilize, you should be fine to socialize and all that, at least imo.

I've been shrooming really hard for almost two decades now and I've never hurt anybody on shrooms. I had a problem where I started playing Santa clause though. Dont be carrying anything you dont want to lose. Or wearing for that matter. and be aware that people worship the almighty dollar.Dont interupt their rat race or get in the way of profits or whatever, its all stupid. Why would anyone honestly care what joe shmo thinks about them.?

For me the higher the dose the more likely I will just lay somewhere and detach and having anyone around that I don't trust intimately is a huge distraction and generally has ended in me disappearing for the peak.

Then there's the possibility of someone having a bad trip while your barely holding it together or even someone who doesn't understand that it's not cool to mess with some who is tripping.

My personal limit for social situations is 2g of average cubes and I'll smoke a bunch of weed.

But loosing control is quite rare and in my many experiences I have never lost control to a point that I risked injury or jail.
Even on the highest dose I ever took involving ego death following convincing myself I had wrecked my brain I still knew it would be a bad idea to go outside naked even though I wanted to go outside but at some point I had removed my clothes
And that's another reason I don't take high doses around people .

This might sound silly but i've developed a personal trick to helping "center" myself when things start to spiral out when i'm tripping and around others or in a situation that's having a major impact on my ability to "keep it together".

I keep a fresh trimming of Rosemary in my pocket and will take a whiff of it when needed.  I know it sounds ridiculous but it's almost like smelling salts, where it immediately re-centers me and clears my head.

For the most part, i can function much better in social situations on LSD than i can on mushrooms.

I've never had a situation where i've totally lost control, but i've definitely had situations where i've lost enough control which caused me to make very questionable choices that could have lead to arrest or even death.

I love that something as simple as fresh Rosemary has the power to reinstate my self-control and a type of base-line perspective.

Rosemary also contains Rosmarinic Acid which inhibits GABA Transaminase and Acetylcholinesterase, thereby to some degree raising levels of GABA and Acetylcholine. Rosmarinic Acid is also a major constituent of Lemon Balm which is most likely why Lemon Balm tea (4 grams) works good for me at relaxing intense Psychedelic come ups, so i'm sure Rosemary would have a similar effect, yet different/unique to Rosemary. A girl i talked to on facebook said she drank Rosemary tea with her Aya and it does good, haven't tried it myself yet though.

Which btw, imo there's a lot of potential in admixture plants/herbs/oils/supplements and such in combination with Psychedelics to really add some flavor to the experience and tweak things more to one's liking. A lot of different compounds found in plants can have very interesting applications with Psychedelics, imo/ime.

Haha I hear you on being in the midst of ego death and knowing that running around naked in the street is probably a bad idea. I don’t know how that happens. Discernment seems to remain on some level.

After working with various psychedelics over the past 10 years, and having probably somewhere around 250+ trips....

....I've only had two experiences where I became a bit "delusional", and it was not full on delusions based off nothing....Both times was fueled by worry/paranoia, but the concerns were legitimate and based of something real and not random (one of those times, long story short, I was concerned that I was seen and identified picking mushrooms from the landscaping of a bank earlier in the day). I became worried that I was going to get caught up with all the mushrooms I had. I had backpacks filled up completely full of mushrooms from the patches I picked from earlier that day and it was the first time I had a "large" amount of any "drug" on me so I was a bit worried/paranoid about getting caught up and that blossomed into a brief panic attack of sorts which fueled dreadful visions of being in prison and my life becoming ruined.....I ended up totally naked pacing around in my room because all of the panic/fear I was experiencing manifested physically and made my body feel incredibly dysphoric, super hot & itchy and a pins & needles feeling across my entire body, there was no second thought about removing my clothes (I learned that's one way people randomly end up naked while tripping lol)....I was certainly in a bit of a "freak out" mode, but I wasn't so out of my mind that I didn't think to put my clothes back on when I went to walk outside, and I was still able to talk...I was just thrown into a "fight or flight" response of sorts, and when on mushrooms that sort of adrenaline/energy running through the system can spiral out of control (I feel I kept myself reined in pretty well considering what I was going through mentally lol, but there were moments where I could see how ridiculous I was acting).

Other than that...I have never once "lost control" or ever felt like I was on the verge of losing control of my actions when tripping.

But those two experiences I had were a real reminder of how quickly and easily a trip can potentially go awry (for me).

Iv never lost control an i have had over 50 tripps on acid an  20 tripps on mushrooms.

The closest i felt losing control when i blacked out on mushrooms an woke up to everyone had a eye ball in the middle of there forhead that blinked an every thing . I kninda panicked for about 2 mins until i realized i was on mushrooms lol.

I dont believe in bad tripps i believe more that a bad tripp is more a challenge an lesson I know people who say they are physically tuff but not many people are mentally tuff like us on shroomery.

I seriously don't believe mushrooms should be taken in public settings at just about any dose. I know exactly what you mean by feeling like you lose control. I can't hold conversations most of the time. I am also not afraid that I'll do something stupid, I'm sure I would look totally normal to people around me, but it is just the mental feeling of being so self conscious of literally everything I am doing that makes me feel like I am being awkward. I chose to just avoid the situation altogether.

Very cool info!  I never bothered to look into the science behind what i considered was just a novel observation based on what i thought was a unique personal experience.
Thanks for sharing.
