LOL Icelander used to stalk me and quote and respond to every post I made. I thought it was pretty weird.

I didn't like how he would treat the younger posters. It reminds me of something I heard in a Jordan Peterson talk recently. He said the goal of philosophy was to break down peoples beliefs but then build them back up stronger than they were before. Icelander would simply break people down.

There are lots of people who will challenge your ideas and while it is certainly healthy to have one's ideas challenged, you have to choose who you are going to listen to and engage with. If someone is breaking down your worldview but has nothing of value to offer you in its stead, you may be better off just sticking your old beliefs (if they were working for you) even if you can't defend them.

I think Icelander was a sadistic nihilist, because he seemed to enjoy nothing more than spreading despair. I think he bullied the younger guys because they hadn't fallen into nihilism yet.

Sadly, I agree with you completely. He experienced a major disillusionment from the days of his youth experiencing a yogic lifestyle in some ashram, but lots of kids said "bullshit" to cleaning the grout of a bathroom floor with a toothbrush in the name of 'Karma Yoga,' the Yoga of work/action. Something else may have befallen the guy or it was a personality problem (or disorder). Rationality is a baseline for sensory data, but it does not negate the reality of trans-rational modes of apperception.

Are we seeing a negative spiral with Kratom users?
Could that have been what was draining Icelander after his breakup with Veritas - prior to that he was enjoyably snarky, but afterwards the dark became much more intense.

I do not know. Do you see other personalities waxing nihilistic, depressive, suicidal under the [ab]use of kratom? I have seen the name on a local smoke shop, but I have not tried it. Nor am I interested in opioid substances. They're just not psychedelic, the opposite in fact.

From my intercourse with Ice he did have past trauma and suffering but sensitive and inquisitive nature. The slagging of this persona is unbecoming of a other with any peaceful or concrete foundation, irrelevant diatribe.

If anything he gave a alternate perspective to feel good delusions and liked questioning the status quo of lazy platitudes.

America and the West is weak think savagery is obtuse when it is a virtue of its own.

If anything he rung the bells of complacency and potential destruction of a weak society made impotent  by largesse l.

Not true Markos. Have you read Thomas De Quincey's Confessions of an English Opium Eater? Opium is a plant teacher which can awaken one to celestial order. It's really quite different from morphine/heroin/pharmaceutical opioids (I would not recommend taking an interest in these). In the right dose opium enhances consciousness rather than suppressing it.

Kratom is a milder, less addictive alternative. It's also an effective stimulant, conversation enhancer and mood booster. Only at moderate to high doses will you experience opioid like effects. It has it's own set of lessons. I have a friend who had a profound mystical experience on kratom.

I would say both are worth trying if you're someone who is interested in plant medicine and has their life together enough that they are not likely to fall instantly into addiction. In my experience, opium is far less addictive than morphine/heroin. When I had opium, I had no trouble moderating my use whatsoever yet when I was using heroin I'd be unable to have it in the house and not use it. I'd constantly go through my supply too fast and wake up dopesick the next morning. Opium is so different. The effects last a long time and once they wear off I am glad the trip is over and don't desire to use more. With heroin, all I can think about is whether enough time has elapsed for me to shoot up again without ODing. Heroin is a truly nightmarish substance in my opinion.

He questioned some lazy platitudes. Others he refused to question under any circumstances, like "the brain generates consciousness".

Which the majority of neuroscientists who exp3nd decades of heavy research and critical thinking agree with.

Do we want a community of hippies which isn't viable long term anyway ore a community which embraces sco3nce and innovation.

I have related works by a intelligent philosopher by the name Metzinger who assim8lated Neuros ience. But I don't think people are looking for truth because it's complex and hard. Difficult nomenclature because to understand the self requires fields of study and concepts beyond getting high.

I don't know if that's true viktor. It's been a while so I could be mistaken, but from what I remember Icelander was not a rabid materialist or Richard Dawkins/scientism type. It's true he tended to not question the assumptions of materialists and so called skeptics, but I would not say he refused to question them under any circumstances. I remember him being agnostic toward those sorts of questions.

Icelanders realised the truth. A community inept at any real development integration, more a community of neurosis, deception, and hierarchy.

So because a bunch of scientists think something we shouldn't question it? The majority of scientists have been wrong quite often, take the food pyramid for example or darwinian evolution.

As for your second point, rejecting materialism doesn't mean you have to reject science. Many of the greatest scientists to ever live, Newton, Tesla, etc were not materialists. Newton actually wrote more on theology than he wrote on mechanics.

If you had integrity congruence you would admit I sustained earlier the brain originates consciousness. Our best and expletive source of study.

But you will rubber band absurd or nonidicitive questions because you got high.
