do they ever come back? the reason i ask is i quit smokin weed like 3 weeks ago and i still feel pretty burnt most of the time.. am i gonna be burnt forever or does this eventually go away

certain brain cells are reproducable, and some will automatically regenerate, while others will not, some repair will be done by your body, no way to tell, it would be different with every persons gene makeup and what not.

yeah, when i have been smoking regularily for a long time i feel stupid too.

After a month it's usually fine, and after 3 or 4 its baseline again.

weed doesnt do permanent damage...if oyure a big smoker and you stop, youll see that a month after your mind is clearer...the negative effects of smoking pot wear off after some time ...

if a substance gets you high it doesnt mean that its because its fuckin up your brain ...unless youre inhaling gas vapors or sometn ;p

It's common to feel slow or burnt out if you've been smoking a lot. A month or two, it should clear up.
I doubt it's from killed off brain cells - I'm sure SOME brain cells were killed, but not enough to turn you into a drooling retard. By the way, getting drunk kills a few brain cells.

Pot doesn't kill brain cells. If you smoke it all the time it will cause alterations in brain chemistry that will make you feel burnt and dopey. Stop smoking and your brain chemistry will return to nomral.

To avoid this don't smoke all the time. Pot is much more interesting when smoked infrequently.

I read a research paper about two years ago that shows this is not true. I don't remember the specifics, but they were able to show that the brain does generate new cells. At the time the research had not been duplicated and I haven't read any more about it.

You are right, there have been several studies to date confirming that certain sections of the brain do regenerate cells. Here's an article about one of them.

I remember being told in DARE that any type of drug use will kill brain cells, and that they'd never grow back.

They didn't mention how many brain cells are killed by getting drunk. Wonder why?

yea, the brain can produce more brain cells, but once they die, i'm pretty sure they are totally dead. i can't believe people react like i'm ridiculous when i tell thempot doesn't kil brain cells. i mean, we're talking people who don't know the difference between THC anddelta-9-THC. c'mon guys, i think i know a bit more about it than these people. not saying they aren't intelligent, but i spend a LOT of my time looking for new info on the way things work. i've never found one true reference to pot killing brain cells. but whatever, thats me pseudo-ranting

3 weeks? how much were you smoking before that?

i used to be a rather heavy pot smoker. the clouds cleared pretty fast after i cut back though (not 3 weeks).

i always smoked on occasion but for the past year and a half i been smokin on average 10 blizzles a day just cause most of my friends sell the shit and i did at one point and when every half hour there is another blunt being passed its hard to just say no

yeah good point, its so true.  im pretty sure that it kills more brain cells when you drink than when you smoke, cause when you smoke the only thing that hurts your brain cells would be holding your breath after taking a huge bong rip :grin:
