Hey Guys,

My girlfriend seems to think that shrooms kill brain cells. Is this true?

your girlfriend has been informed by the fuckers at DARE--i can tell the "style" of lying...if it killed brain cells i should be stupid by now and many people shouldn't have any left. it doesn't do anything physically to your body except give you slight nausea in the beginning which goes away quite quickly...its actually one of the safest drugs when used in moderation

yeah dude, i know. she seems to be pretty well worked on by the dare assholes. i have a lot of work to do. She claims to not be anti-drug, but i can't even get any weed in her........

well at the moment i cant really remember any specific sites about it but if this helps: i trip and i still have an A- average, is that good enough evidence? just have her read up on shrooms on sites such as the shroomery, erowid.org, and lycaeum.org....dont even let her get near sites like DARE and shit like that -- the best of luck to you

D.A.R.E.. erm, do they even have information on drugs on their site? I went there in curiousity, and left in puzzlement. It looks like a 12 year old made the site, and I couldn't find any information on drugs. Only information I found was for paranoid parents to make themselves more paranoid by reading..

Herbs have tradtionaly been used as medicines. The active ingredients in herbs are considered antagonists meaning they agitate or increase blood flow to certain areas depending on what herb is being used and how close in chemical structure the chemicals are to those already found in the body. Like traditional Ginseng increases
blood flow to liver thus increasing oxygen intake to area ,effecting blood sugar and energy production. It just so happens that the good'ol smurfs antagonise the pineal gland's
serotonin receptors. Not to say that most herbs don't function
in more than one way. I'm not an herbal guru but I've read and used my fare share of herbs. Hope that helps.

I think it's funny that people think shrooms could kill brain cells.
I mean, just look at most of the people on this site. I don't know about you, but they are some of the most articulate and well educated people i've ever had the privelege of talking to. Shrooms don't make you stupid...

yeah agreed. I'm National Merit Scholar, salutorian, going to college and acknowledged as a smart kid by most at my school. So yeah, only big risks are psychological.

I went there too, they had a section describing the effects of "club drugs" but they have no mushy info.

mushrooms are a non-specific seritonin receptor agonist, not antagonist. they excite receptors all throughout the brain and body, not just the pineal gland or whatnot.

interestingly most of the genius that i know do psychedelic drugs

I've counted my brain cells before and after every trip, and it turns out the only ones I ended up loosing were because of the things I did while tripping.

People need to realize that even if things kill brain cells it doesnt matter! You have enough brain cells for about 6 life times. besides even sneezing kills brain cells. In my opinion, people just say pot kills brain cell so some will stop smoking it.
