Not sure if it is just me but I actually tried drying some on cardboard too and some of them ended up slightly sticking to it. I ended up getting a dehydrator and the caps look very nice when done drying.

You do realize that it became unsterile as soon as it went into the monotub right?


Yea it becomes unsterile as soon as it hits external air, but it is working!

That happens to me too, they always stick a little. I did some in my dehydrator and they turned out well. They just don't have the rubbery fiber like texture you get from air drying, but the dehydrator is nice for when i have someone who will need them asap. I see myself using it a lot now for the smaller fruits.

Essentialy yes its how i have been drying outdoor cultivation and it has always preserved them perfectly. As an experiment put some in a box with a fan on medium or low cap side down. leave them there for three days and look at the differences.

The more time you spend drying, the more actives are lost. Sure, it's usually not a significant amount, but if you're someone like me with a certain quality to maintain, every bit counts.

Oxydization is enemy number one to the actives, and the more time they spend being wet after getting picked, the more actives you lose (again, small amout usually).

I would invite you to experiment to get the fastest possible drying time, usually done with a dehydrator or open oven, if only for tripping's sake :wink:

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that will claim dehydrators (100-150F) decrease potentcy, but yet will drop shrooms into boiling water (214F) without a single thought.  :rolleyes:

Don't take it the wrong way.  I'm in favor of dehydrators.  I use a Ronco with similar trays to yours with no temp control.  I store shrooms in a shed that gets to 130F daily for 6 hours.  No noticeable decrease in potency.  Those who claim dehydrators are a blight on potency are laughable.
