Well the 5% rule is in effect here.  If you can find five out of 100 posters thinking logically you will have gone far.

why not provide a LINK which shows evidence Dennis retracted what he said about Terrence stopping his magic mushroom use

Dennis never said anything about it in the first place, the only place the lie ever appeared was on a podcast with Lorenzo Hagerty and Bruce Damer that was immediately retracted after it was released. That podcast did not feature Dennis, it was retracted because of the reaction from Terence's family to the baseless, dishonest slander against Terence.

At the moment all I am seeing is your opinion? You are not providing any sources  never mind 'multiple sources' to support what you think is SO obvious that anyone that believes it ism't true are idiots. So PROVIDE some sources?

Quote:
Dennis probably made up the lie about Mckenna to sell copies of his boring and pointless book, and it worked, many people were sorely disappointed when they purchased the book and found no mention of any bad trip, or any disingenuous mushroom abstinence. The lie on the podcast was immediately retracted, and Dennis was subsequently disowned by his own family because of it and is now just a bitter failed loner.

It must be difficult for Dennis to have lived his entire life in the shadow of his famous brother, but that really is no excuse for this dishonest, slanderous opportunism, preying on the naive credulity of the so-called "psychedelic community".

Either way, the lie has been thoroughly, conclusively disproven by multiple sources, so to continue to cling to it even now likely indicates a lack of intelligence and critical thinking, hence the term "idiot"

? See you worry about others slandering your previous Terrence but not Dennis ey?

IF Dennis didn't even say it why are you now saying he did?

Here is a video where Mckenna discusses a mushroom trip he took in 1996 - youtube DOT com/v/NR8Eys21Hvc&fs=1&autoplay=1

And there are many other similar sources where he talks about trips that he had *after* his alleged "bad trip". the guy who made the cognition factor videos - Mike Kawitsky, tripped with Terence during the 90's when he was supposedly abstinent but disingenuously telling other people to take "bigger and bigger doses" (that was just complete BS slanderous nonsense from Bruce Damer)

I don't think it matters if Terrence had a bad trip and stopped or not, he still got enough out of the experiances that he did have to keep him going, plus I'm sure those experiances were signifigant, and meaningful and could not have been obtained any other way, so even if he did stop that doesn't change anything, at least I don't think it does.

Embedding a vid is a skill that needs learning. It has very little to do with logic if you've never done it before.  You are not being logical.

Actually I agree with your first sentence but not the rest. IF Mckenna did carry on trippin, this does not mean he didn't push psychedelic transhumanism which is FAR more serious critique then that he may have had some bummer

Looks like you put me back on ignore the moment I started to pick your nonsense apart.

Well if you want to continue posting in this forum I'd suggest you start answering questions put to you.

As far as I'm concerned your actions show a distinct lack of credibility  and a willingness to face critique.

The way I see it is even if I quit smoking DMT today, I would still tell people about the amazing experiances I had on it, and all the potential things the compound could do. So even if Terence did stop taking psychedelics I don't think it changes anything, and I would not blame him for still promoting psychedelics.

As far as pushing psychedelic transhimanism, I'm not sure what to say here, I mean I look at Richard alpert (ram dass) and Tim Leary, this is obviously what these guys were doing, however I see mckenna as an intellectual, a skeptic, a scientific and rational thinker, and a person who in his own words would stay clear of these "airy-fairy" spiritual guru types.

...but I may be misunderstanding what you were trying to say here.

I didn't say Dennis didn't know about it, try to read carefully what i am actually saying.

the crucial point is, that the whole story about the alleged bad trip + extended shroom abstinence was false rumour based purely on hearsay that was subsequently discredited by numerous sources including Mike Kawitsky. Nobody has even put their name to it, it was immediately retracted after it appeared and several people have come forward since then to say that it wasn't true.

The fact that there are some people in the so-called "psychedelic community" like you who are still clinging to the discredited and retracted claim says a lot about the credulity and low-intelligence of the "psychedelic community", but it says nothing about Terence Mckenna.

Dennis Mckenna remained 100% silent about the whole issue since the very beginning, he never uttered a single word about it anywhere.
