That would be awesome if you could.  Especially considering maples.  You could just tap those baby's for lots of golden sap!

I made maple syrup this spring, and it opened my eyes to how much sap there is in the trees. On a good day there was nearly two gallons of sap coming from some trees. It stops flowing after the temperatures warm up though.  I plan on collecting some sap from Oak and various other sp. and trying to fruit something like Russula which seem like they will be easy to clone.

You would have to "tap" the trees during a drought to get what we and the morels are wanting.

or you could just buy the chemicals online.  i think they use them for agar plant culture.

The 14 incher was back in 2008 I didn't have a digital camera or smartphone back then. My dad has the only pictures of them and when I ask for them he gives me the runaround about it like "I'll have to search for them" "I have to dig them up" or "That shit ain't important, you need to be worrying about a job".

$12.60 for 5 grams?
You're gonna need more than 5 grams.
Think how much ABA a tree in a drought condition would need to produce in order to transfer it to all the leaves of the tree.

I did not measure this but it was my first Morchella find. I took a spore print and have a culture made from those spores.

And if you are going to do a grow op for business purposes, you definitely will need a lot of ABA. And it gets expensive.

I would think 100 grams would be enough for a multitude of experimental purposes.

It would have to flow in order to get the ABA to the leaves on the tree, so that they close their stomata and prevent water loss.

Maybe the flow would stop but what about making cuts in the trunk of the tree large enough to have at least a little of sap in those areas?  Then just scrap it off?  Maybe that would be highly concentrated with ABA?

Gary Mills says this and that suggests that plentiful amounts of ABA would be necessary.

In addition to this, also think about the west coast forest fires that produce burnsite morels and the sizes of these morels are mammoth.

So can you further explain why these burn sites create huge morels? Do trees that are burning release huge amounts of sap that is leached into the ground or is it the roots of the burned trees that are the source of huge morel growth?  Do the roots of the dead trees that are decaying release this ABA that was stored in the roots?

The only thing that would be cheap would be the Gibberellin.
You would only need so much of that in order to "trigger" the morel sclerotia.
