Even if there was no good way to grow morels then that would be all the more reason to try. The more people that try different ways the sooner we will all be eatin homegrown morels.
Have you tried to get viable spores from a dried morel?
I will try tomorow but i have a feeling they wont be viable.
If i get my shit together i may be able to send you a culture, maybe. Ill get back to you when ive got more plates.

from my understanding its really only understood how to grow black morels well... go to the library and check out a book "Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms" by paul stamet. It has growth parameters for black morels. They only grow like 2 weeks a year in april-may so it will be a long while before I can even hope to get a tissue sample myself. If anyone can get a hold of some culture or spores please pm me as I need to make some good stir-fry.

The key to growing morels is in the sclerotia. Read GGMM.

So what ? You mean sclerotia will not form if u apply agar with mycellium in a rye grass seed jar ? Explain please.

It seems that Morchella have adapted to form thier sclerotia where the substrate contains less nutrients. If you apply a good thick casing layer, similer to that which you would use for Psilocybe, the mycelium will 'pipe' its nutrients into the casing where they are stored as sclerotia.
There are other threads on here that have good links, and Stamets' GGMM has info too.
Good luck.

You lucky devil. Air tight seems odd. You should definately try to get spores from them. They may even be cloneable. Good luck.
By the way does anyone know if Morchella can fruit from the haploid mycelium from just one spore? Stamets put a question mark beside it in GGMM.
