I recently isolated some nice cultures from a black morel (Morchella elata) which I found growing next to a path at my girlfriend's house. I left the "cap" on a petri dish overnight and it was cbvered in white spores by the morning. Morchella, like many other Ascomycetes tends to "shoot" its spores from little spore sacs called asci. 69

Upon second inspection it appears the species I found is actually Morchella esculenta on the basis of its size, M. elata being much smaller. It is a very fast growing strain, the hyphae are beautifully branched and grows deep into the agar.
