I always used the Holmes brand, like shown in the OP. Can't vouch for the Honeywell.

i recently replaced my first filter in 6 years. i still have this one that should last that long. i only use this for clean work. nothing else.

it may come with a true type hepa but double check. also double check it has ionizer built in. from the picture i can't zoom in but the two nobs on top usually indicate one is for the hepa and one is for the ionizer.

so here is what a stem clone injected into grain looks like. i shook these jars when normally i wouldn't so i didn't see growth until 4 days in. it catches faster in the pf jars. this is why i do it in pf jars.



here are 3 more clones i took. if you look on the far left that jar was one pf jar injected with an entire 10cc syringe. you can see how the growth will be extremely fast for a quick clone. it was the r44 strain which i wasn't impressed with much so i didn't want to do many jars using this clone.



the one 2nd from the right was completely blue from the pulverized stem tissue. its starting to turn white.
thats the tex yellow cap strain!

you could but you would have restricted space. the best part about it is that you can use 55 gallon bags and you have a ton of work space. i have a 74 quart SAB myself and when i work in that it makes me feel very confined. i bang and crash into all kinds of things.

i bought mine so long ago they didn't make true type filters yet. so im working off of a regular filter and this year i have 0 contams so far using a shmuvbox. the last time i changed it was 6 years ago. the new filter i have(since i bought a two pack) isn't a true type either. you should be fine. just clean it like the pictures and all should be well.

i was reading in 365's thread and he said he found his hepa had been used and abused, left in a hot car, around smokers and got contaminated not because of the hepa but because of that situation. if you keep it clean and keep it the box after every use and store it in a draft free area. you should be perfectly fine to have it last years. i think you mentioned even a flowhood was givng you issues. so, you can look at it both ways. nothing works perfectly and things get old and need replacing. if i got to a point that i was contaminating everything in my shmuv i would toss it out and buy a new one.

i haven't had that issue though i keep it packed up. still have the original box too. mine might be older than yours 13! i started using in in 2003. so its 11 years old.

Yeah, definitely keep it clean. This thing can't take 40,000 miles, lol. If you go on tour, toss it and buy a new one when you get back.

yeah i would definitely try all avenues of figuring out what the problem was first. which would probably take some time. but its definitely a long lasting item if you have a steady situation. unforeseen circumstances can fuck us all.

ok so here are some updates to my stem clone done in the shmuvbox. im just illustrating this because all the haters think this won't work and im spreading contams everywhere WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNTRUE AND IM JUST PROVING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

this is day 3 on the stem clones. you can see the jar on the left has the 10cc's injected into it. it should be ready by day 4 which is my usual speed for making a clone. if your not in a hurry it doesn't matter but my growing style is geared toward some heavy bulk yield so speed is of the essence.

yeah i wasn't directing that at anyone in particular, several years ago when i posted this, everyone was hating lol..they kept telling me that i was swirling contams around. i hadn't posted any grows using this method at the time. i have tons. just about every grow for the last 11 years. but i was too lazy to look at the time. i have more free time on my hands now. but i recently updated the op with some examples at the very bottom if anyone wants to see them. so all the clean work was done in the shmuvbox, using pf jars with 9er tek clones and foomans grain tek on the wbs prep.

I still would rather do a classic cloning, but I can't argue with results. You can't exactly get an isolate with your method. Whether or not you care to isolate is on you.

yeah its quick and the turnover is quick. sometimes even isolating is hit or miss for me. this way i find out quicker. but, not that i won't isolate something that looks good. this tex yellow cap if anyone has seen it i isolated it way back in the day. you know in those old things called petri dishes.  i guess now everyone is using those pp5's. i have some i just bought to try out. i like being able to reuse them. most of the time tex grew out orange. but it shoots off two colors!

i saw sporedepot.com had it. not sure where they got it. i only gave it to a select few. i guess things get passed on to friends.

if you get a chance. get it, really great strain.

ok so here are the day 4 clone jars.

the way i normally do this for speed is that i take 1-10cc syringe and inject it into one pf jar. you can see below the jar that i did this is almost fully colonized after 4 days. you can then slurry this clone into 100 quarts and make enough spawn from 1 pf jar of clone to make 20 monotubs. day 6 wbs. ill probably shake it when it gets to about 3 more days. its slower than i want. most of the LI dripped to the bottom so its all colonized on the bottoms of the 4 jars i di.

update day 5. so the jars i did with 2.5cc's will probably be done by day 7. im getting anxious. i have to spawn a ton of shit this weekend to clear up room for these clones in grain jars.



gonna give the grain jar another 2 days then possibly shake. depends on how it looks in two days.
