suck up the Grain Liquid culture into a syringe. inject that into 2-4 pf jars. let it colonize. then use one of those to slurry up to 100 quarts. using tv casualty's slurry in a hurry. if it takes a week to colonize the pf jars using GLI then it will take 3-4 days for 100 quarts to colonize after that. so your looking at less than 2 weeks for 100 quarts colonized. p2g if your only doing lets say 10 quarts. and you will need to shake the jars which will take about 7 days for the quarts to colonize fully.

so after 10 days the ape stem clone is 100% colonized. other strains should take about half this time. generally 3-4 days if you inject 10cc's per one pf jar.

i just did a new clone with 3 different strains. i injected one 10cc syringe into 1 pf jar just to show the side by sides. i will post that soon.

dude you have no idea what your talking about. im not using any sfd's on my lids there are plain holes and they colonize just fine.

not only that before you comment without reading or knowing what im doing with my jars don't make empty posts. ive seen several thread you post in that you only read the very last post then comment on something that is completely irrelevant. like saying a strain about cubensis when we were not talking about cubensis at all. i could give several examples but i don't want to waste my time. moderators should know better. especially a new moderator.

not only that wrong sized cakes? what does that mean? the notion that tall regular mouth half pints don't work is also very wrong. you just don't know how to colonize them properly. you have to colonize them from bottom up by pointing the needle at the side of the jar and dripping the clone or spore solution down the side of the jar. you colonize them from the bottom up. if you look at a few picture posts above you will see this happening in the jar pictures.and you don't know what im using them for. i don't fruit pf cakes. i use these for clones to make a liquid inoculant that colonizes quart jars in 3-4 days. so the size and shape of the pf jar is also irrelevant. why don't you go through and read the whole thing. can you colonize quart jars in 3-4 days? and have enough clone spawn for 20 tubs in less than a week to 10 days?


here is the example, i don't use sfd's on my lids. this is the lid im using.

ive done side by side tests with clones using foil over the lids and no foil on the lids. they grow exactly the same speed, exactly the same growth. there is not difference. so don't try and tell me how to use my jars if they work perfectly. your theory that having this foil over a lid that has holes it in it cuts off gas exchange is not right. gas exchange is happening perfectly fine. a few of those jars you see in that picture i actually took off the foil prior to putting it back on before 100% colonization. they grew exactly the same speed. all grew perfectly fine.

here is the lids. the two holes in the smaller lids are the ones being used on the pf jars. the other ones you see are for liquid culture. if i were using an sfd on the lid i wouldn't cover it in foil. so before you make empty comments check the facts. standard pf tek verm barrier ect.

Wow.....guess you dont know what JK means......

And foil that remains on cakes can make the dry verm layer moist......it has nothing to do with inhibiting GE.....If you pay that much attention to my posts you should know that.

ok sorry i got pissed. but hey lets talk this out. so for instance. my whole thing is, that as soon as these pf cakes consolidate. i basically store them in the fridge as masters for up to a year. or i blend them up with sterile water and pour that into quart grain jars and they colonize in about 3-4 days.that allows me to keep a nice clone library of slurry pf jars to make tons of batches of clones at any time. its very convenient. not the norm, but works very well and very easy. the turnaround for a clone is less than 2 weeks to make enough spawn for up to 20 monotubs.

yeah i never have problems with that. but also i prepare my pf jar mix drier than the regular pf mix.

lets say you do 24 pf jars

12 cups verm
6 cups brf
6 cups water

ill do

12 cups verm
6 cups brf
4.5-5 cups water

it acconts for the LI but also allows the jars to be on the dry side. so i can also use a P2G which is pf jar to grain. so i use it like a G2G.

also you would probably hate me because i use a shmuvbox. but i have 0 contams using this. i actually get more contams in a SAB. but i love most methods and try them all so im not knocking any of them.

lol hey i apologize for jumping on you. i got the flu right now and am sick as a dog. another thing i also used to use a flowhood.

do you see the background image of the one i built? that was around 2003.



that was a long time ago. but anyway, i actually tossed it in the garbage when i first started using this shmuvbox. for one because it worked so well and for 2 i ran out of space when i moved to store that bulky thing. and the shmuv packs up nice and tight. ive done clones, poured plates, i do g2g, p2g, all kinds of clean work multispore syringes. works great.

i dont pay attention to your posts just ones that ive seen if we crossed paths in a thread. to be honest i have never seen a thread or post by you until cronic was nominated as mod and i went to congratulate him in the thread and i think they updated the thread with your name and 13shrooms. thats the first time i saw your name on this forum.

also i did a slurry yesterday and i had a pf jar that has been sitting in the fridge for around 3 weeks. when i took off the lid and tilted the jar the dry verm poured right off. i want to understand how many people have water buildup here. sometimes the mycelia grows into the dry verm barrier. but i don't have this issue at all. it may be the lids im using are badass. or maybe the loose foil on top allows the moisture to evaporate. i don't know but just trying to throw some ideas out there. i really love those lids, i don't see places that make them like that anymore. they have a beveled edge lip on them if you zoom in.

does having an sfd lid with foil over it cause water building in the dry verm barrier? ive been making pf jars the same way for 17 years and never had any water buildup that your mentioning. but, when i did use the regular lids that come with the mason jars, those would give me all kinds of issues. so i upgraded when i found those poly lids available online.

I have never had an issue with it personally, but I always tell people that because, if u think about it, it is possible that the moisture from the cake will eventually moisten the dry verm layer if the holes are covered.....no air can pass over them to dry the verm.....

maybe because mine are going in a fridge they dry out. i don't know. also here is one with a regular mouth 1/2 pint. same thing, no issue with wet verm. when i  do the regular pf mix the jars are much more moist.



where i lived in 96 the only jars they had available were the tall regular mouth mason 1/2 pints. the wide mouth half pints i bought more recently in the last few years.
