9er tek

Any one use this tek? How are the yields per jar compared to pf tek? also ive seen a lot of variation in the amount of water used, from 2:1 to 1:1 water:rice, this is a huge difference. How much water would one want to use to ensure things work out properly? (someone tried rye many times completely unsuccessfully so this part is making them nervous. They simply will not be able to handle yet another failure, and they are bored of pf tek.) Any tips that may help would be GREATLY appreciated, (please only reply if you have used this tek, ive read a lot on it so im really just looking for first hand experience.)

the trick to 9er tek is just to pre-cook the rice [following the directions on the package], then rinse, then load it still steaming hot into the jars. pc 45 minutes at 15 psi, after they cool, shake the jars to fluff up the rice and break up any clumps. inoculate and germinate as normal. we've got lots of info, success stories, etc. on 9er tek in the archives at mycotopia, please feel free to come read more about it there.

Thanks hippie3. For some reason i cant get on mycotopia right now, oh well, quart jars were prepared using 5 cups rice, then 5 1/2 cups water, then and extra 1/4 cup was added because the rice sucked it all up and the center was a little dry. Lunderberg rice was used. When it was finished the grains weren't visibley dry in the centers, but it was semi firm, sort of like aldentae spaggetti. It would have sucked really bad to eat this rice, but the moisture content seemed to be about the same moisture content as pf tek substrate. I just hope it didn't dry out more in the PC. Well soon find out...

because it sucks?
use a sab and 1 knife with a pasty plate.
take fruit. cut a vertical shaving off the outside of the stipe. use flamed blade to scrap some tissue from the exposed cut and put it to agar. inside a sab. easy peasy

I'm trying to find different teks very good for potent b+ and I came along this one and it's not done. I've read other posts with this same issue and this was the perfect looking one to get it done. So my question is: was that enough water? Did the cake get to dry while pressure cooking? And what next?

Not to grow them? what do you mean by that? like it was used in place of agar or something? can you link to the 9er tek you have seen?

The 9er Tek This is a whole rice tek for growing Psilocybe
This is a whole grain (rice) technique for growing warm fruiting, grain loving, wild mushrooms.
and the cloning bit is also optional.
Quote:
Culture source: Either acquire a spore syringe or get started from a fresh fruit body. Spores can be injected into the whole grain recipe or the MMGG recipe.
to me the defining part was the use of whole brown rice.

growing as in the act of 'growing' like the pf tek is the act of growing. hence me saying its a way to clone. because i used it as a way to clone and inoculate but still used another tek for the 'growing'.
sorry. should of been clearer. you are correct. maybe i had a bad night..
