How many times do I have to hear that?  I know that.. Did you even read the tek?  I couldn't find ez felt.. It's just an alternative to ez-felt and it can be made into as many layers as you want.  Good luck doing that with ez-felt.  Besides these filters have turned into filters for my monotubs so I don't have to stuff the bottom holes anymore.. and they work amazingly.

Dang sorry, was just tired and stoned and never saw you had already heard lol.  And its easy to make it thicker, just add more felt or iron sheets together.  I generally double up on jars.  You not have a hobby lobbby near you?  Also you can get a roll of it off the internets.  :shrug: I am not knocking what you are doing, its a great solution to running out.

I was going to use this tek on the weekend but I couldn't find my flat sheets of poly. I probably threw them out the last time I was going to quit growing. Stuffing poly in a hole works well but now that I'm making 50+ qt jars a week I need something faster.

So I'm at wally and i found the flimsy ecofi felt And then right above it some cut outs of shapes of what look like to be this same exact as SFDs just colord and large So the question is should I get the thin felt and double it up or the thick felt and just use one and cut it out seems much easier

Can you tell me the width of it?  That will help me try to answer that one.  I feel like those are probably alot "denser" than mine.  I used 4 layers and kind of got lucky because it has worked like a charm.  I used my best judgement on deciding the thickness of my filters.

GF:  Tell him to use the breath test :laugh2: but seriously she makes a good point.  It's a good start.  If you can just barely feel your breath you're in the green.

You guys are too good to me Had to take this to show my appreciation. i have plenty for everyone.  they are 4 mm thick and 11.5in round.  They feel nearly identical to my SFds so glad i saw those before i got those flimsy sheets

dunno... first off using them for pasty plates and jar lids. But I was actually going to ask you if you thought i could use these for the bottom holes on the mono.  they were under $2 each so I thought I'd grab them while I was there. My phone battery died but i got your responses right before and went with it. What do you think?

Hell ya double those up and iron them together.. I'm not sure if they are able to be ironed together though.  If not you could silicone them together (sand them a little bit).. then silicone them to the tub (sanding them again).  I can't stress how important coarse sand paper is.  You really want nice grooves and crannies for the silicone to adhere into so they don't just rip off.  I'd love to see pics when you're done!

I combined this tek with SpitballJedi's Lid Tek to make these for some jars I'll be knocking up with a syringe tonight. I'll be comparing them side by side with 2 lids I made with TL's tek.

Nice, how many layers did you iron together?  It still looks a bit fluffy.  You really do need to iron those nice and flat so that they will last a long time.  How much silicone are you using to adhere those to the inside of the jar lid?  I'd love to see your results.

I used 4 layers total on each disc and I did iron them out a bit more after taking that pic. The reason I needed to combine these two teks is because I didn't have time for the silicone to cure before this batch of grain was done soaking. Instead I cut them as precisely as possible. (Protip: Have awesome scissors)

On a side note I ended up using a real SFD on one of the jars. It's a laughable sample size to be sure, but if there are any glaring design flaws I should be able to see them. PCing now, will report back after inoculation!
