Mindfuck * 1

I'm actually a science student but I've always been fascinated by linguistics because language really controls how we perceive and filter the world. I feel like the reasons psychedelics are often underestimated and seen as taboo practices is because of a flaw in our language.

For instance, recently I was having a discussion about the mindfuck that comes with psychedelic trips but I shortly realized that the term itself is all too often employed by individuals who lack either the vocabulary or the initiative (or both) to properly describe an experience which was, in actuality more worthy of a novel than a simple catch phrase. It's pretty much a slang term with no meaning at all!

doesn't the psychedelic experience mean more than that? Isn't it beyond "mindfuck", into "a firehose-sized blast of reality onto my exposed cerebral Cortex. The skull cap left flapping in the wind as I try to hold on to a root as the sheer force of everything I have ever experienced comes rolling over my concieness."?
Sure, all I can say at the time is "Ohh, ffffuck!" but doesn't the experience, with your ability to reflect on it afterwards, more meaningful than "oh fuck"?

Thats not just a sentiment for 5MEO-DMT or high dose of psychedelics, either. I can apply that to almost any psychedelic. Look at LSD. I may be sitting in some corner, turning over the same words in my mind for 15 minutes, asking myself what they mean. However, the gravity of the trip goes beyond "oh man, i sat in some corner for a long ass time and thought some crazy shit"; the trip should be a life altering experience. You should walk away, better for the experience.

I just feel like the psychedelic experience is significantly more important than most people understand....But in the eyes of the observers, its just a dangerous, stupid, meaningless activity.

A lot of things we do are a mindfuck. You can see a guy get shot in the face at the movies but if the children see any more than a sideboob that shit wont make theaters. You can join get drafted and kill people but you can't have a beer until you're 21 or even smoke a joint, ever. Non violent drug offenses can do life in prison, murderers don't even get that sometimes. America has more people in jail than the rest of the world and we somehow joke ourselves in to thinking were free. It is what it is.

^ That doesn't really mean anything either, you just strung together some colorful language:shrug:
