sometimes people make threats or say things they don't really mean, just to get a point across. sometimes a last resort to getting one's point across is to try and scare the other person with words.

your parents care about you obviously. if they didn't, they would never fight with you because they wouldn't care enough to.

i think both you and your parents need to realize some things.

your parents need to realize that you're growing up and they can't be the captain of your life for much longer.

and you need to realize that drugs aren't the most important thing in the world. love is, bonding, showing compassion, friendships, relationships, any kind of ships.. just caring for one another and being there to show compassion for others should be a priority over drugs, unless you wish to take the path so many before you already have, and lose yourself in the void of your own ego

but ultimately, you both need to realize that fighting will not solve anything. it may help to break things down and find the core of the issues, but nothing will change for the better unless everyone involved CHOOSES to take a positive stance. you and your parents need to sit down and have a talk about what is really important. everyone needs to try and understand eachother, by being honest and open about everything, all the feels and all the opinions. only then will things change. only after everyone realizes that compassion and understanding trumps fighting and arguing in ALL circumstances, will things really start to change for the better.

My thumb's in stupid extreme pain from an infection and I was prescribed 1-2 Vicodin every 4-6 hours over 3 days, I ran out, and I got a new antibiotic and a painkiller refill today for 20 hydrocodone (I only wanted 10, enough for like 2.5 days).

The doctor said 1 every 6-8 hours but they only last 4 so I was insisting on the way out that I be allowed to take one every 4. My dad insisted on doing it as the doctor said and when we sent a nurse back to ask if going by the original prescription was okay (since again, they only kill the pain for like 4 hours if that) and she said I could take them a half an hour early.

:megacrankey: Uhhh... what? I'm not going to writhe in pain for an hour and a half several times a day, so I insisted on taking them every 4 hours and took the bottles from my dad at the clinic. The nurse said we could talk to the doctor again but my dad said, "I'm through here."

We got home and I wouldn't give him the bottles. We had a shouting match with my door leveraged between us and I thought it might break. I started crying like halfway through and when he mentioned kicking me out of the house and I brought up how he'd be sad if I killed myself, he just said "maybe...".

I'm starting to understand and realize that my family doesn't need me. Things aren't going to go back to the way they were. Ashes to ashes.

I haven't been this sad in forever. :'(

You sound like an addict.  This is just ridiculous behavior.  Maybe its time to wake up and deal with your problems.

Hey thanks, what a genuinely useful and compassionate reply. I've been talking with Buest a lot lately in DTC and he's just a tome of overflowing love and I really want to be like that. Just got to move that way one bit at a time I guess.

Really, this will all be fine as long as I can still go to college and get my career foundation laid out. There won't be any more extended stays at home and hopefully, family becomes a treat again rather than a burden.

You sound like an illiterate. Sorry, maybe that was too harsh but my thumb is infected to the point where it's gone numb/tingling. I couldn't even work the last 2 days because of it.

It was less about the Vicodin and more about my independence the longer it went on.

For the car, it's one thing, but medical... and a severe infection no less... if I was already under their care, they should feel obligated to continue.

Man I miss having a family though. :frown:

What does that have to do with anything?  Many addicts have legitimate pain.

Why are you behaving like a spoiled child and throwing temper tantrums/threatening to kill yourself and generally being a baby to people who are supporting you?

try to have empathy for yourself and your parents. humans are flawed in a very specific way when it comes to dealing with problems.

people are not unlike machines. when we see a problem, we react automatically with a solution. however, everybody sees different problems in different things and in different ways. this causes arguments, because there is a conflict preventing an agreement/resolution.

this is where irrational things start to happen. people begin saying things for the SOLE PURPOSE of supporting their original argument, even if they do not even believe the things they're saying!

to bypass this, the rational mind must kick in. this can take some practice. your mind immediately wants to jump to the thing that supports your own beliefs and opinions, regardless of what rationality would say.

you need to look very carefully and observe the point when the rational mind gets overtaken by irrational instincts. this can be tricky, but it's a skill that can be learned through patience and self-control

Damn bro that sounds like a play by play of what happened after I got my wisdom teeth pulled. My mom told the doctor to not give me oxy behind my back and instead of 90 perks, I got 20 vikes. Chaos followed ending with me at my dealers house looking like a vampire with blood all over my chin.

Sounds like you're a junkie. I got 10 vicodins and prescription-strength ibuprofen for my wisdom teeth and didnt complain once. When you act like you absolutely need any psychoactive drug you come off as a junkie, regardless of whether your pain warrants painkillers.

I'm... not an addict though. I just needed painnkillers to... kill... pain?

It's not a temper tantrum... things have been dancing on the edge of this for months now and this is just another episode of their crazy mixed with my hardheadedness. And if you'd read, I didn't threaten to kill myself. I just pointed out that they're going to regret treating me like this when it's too late to make it right.

You're a good person, Envix. Solid character and a warm heart . You're really wise too!

Looking back on this through the lenses you just gave me, I think I should have just been a lot more casual/flippant about it... like not yelled back at him, not tried to close the door to him... just walked through the house, gotten on my laptop, and casually addressed him as though I were busy instead of letting him scream at me, threaten me, and get me to cry like a baby in front of my brother.

That's funny but sounds really painful too! I just had 3 cavities filled which luckily didn't require painkillers. I'd be scared to be prescribed that many oxies, just speaking for myself... they're STRONG shit.

Although if you were gonna get them, I bet you needed them and that's WAY uncool of your mom. Seems like you, me, AND another shroomerite I'm close with ALL have parents that assume our drug habits are way worse than they are and they actively interfere. :puke: Yuck.

I'm a 200 pound 23 year old man, and I CRIED yesterday morning the pain was so bad. I have a new respect for what the sensation called "pain" can actually mean after this experience.

Most painful thing I've felt and I've had 2 bones broken in 3 places before.

Behold, my VaginaThumb(TM):

Like for real yo, this shit was painful.

That's exactly what happened. I had all impacted molars, long roots that went to the nerve, and an extra molar had to get pulled that was dead. That's 5 teeth. On top of that Opiates are my drug of choice so I had a big tolerance.

I actually respect that you took this into consideration. It'd be irresponsible/ABuser behavior to pretend that opiate use isn't a consideration. It's a true psychonaut and a gentleman to take into account his drug use and how that effects therapeutic medication in the medical side.

GOD THIS SUCKS THOUGH. I HAD A BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL, CARING FAMILY. NOW THEY AGREE THAT PROBABLY NOT EVEN 5 PEOPLE THAT AREN'T RELATED TO ME WOULD EVEN COME TO MY FUNERAL IF I DIE SOON. I miss them.

i would not want a funeral if i died. it's creepy. i would not go to my best friend's funeral, i would not go to a funeral of a family member if given the choice.

let the dead be dead i say. they can remain in memory without the hokus pokus witchcraft. having someone's lifeless corpse in a casket surrounded by people sobbing and reciting incantations, thats just creepy. IMO

My mom was telling me at dinner how all I have left are virtual friends (like my drug use killed all my real friendships).

I left.

Would never *do it out of retaliation*, but if something ever did happen to me they would regret that this is the kind of thing they spent their time with me telling me. :frown:

ha. your mom doesn't realize how awesome "virtual friendships" can be!

it doesn't matter how many friends you have after you're dead, it doesn't matter where your friends are after you're dead, or if they even remember you, because YOURE DEAD!

the only friendships that matter are the ones you have while you're ALIVE. these are the connections that matter. doesn't matter if they're over the internet or face-to-face. a true friend is a friend, no matter what.

and if the connections you form are really something special, you will remain in memory. if you try to be the most loving person you can be, many will love you back, and you will be remembered by lots of people. it's not a complicated thing, you just get back what you put out.

it's childish of your mom to try and make you feel bad like this. that's complete nonsense, and she's just saying those things to hurt you. that's wrong and sad.
