Anony # 16: Ok my good sir, riddle me this: If you personally would never do any of it...why do u argue it? What's the point? After you say....Id never date an underage....i want heroin decriminalized but id never do it, why even argue? /sigh Draining. -.- Have you ever seen a tweaker b4, I'm sure you have but - I cant get why your thoughts are the way they are. I suppose this is where freedom of expression bites the rest of Ermericah in the ass. You sound like a hippy, that's no diss so dont take it personally, but you got the attitude that "it's only wrong because the people say it's wrong, what's really wrong or right? Who's to say shooting a baby in the face is wrong in the first place? Maybe it was once right."
Skinny jeans and poofy hair was stylish back then. Not anymore. Marrying a minor was normal back then; not anymore. As times change, we must change to adapt.
"why do you argue it"
The laws for too strict and are ruining a lot of lifes, all for the sake of "protecting the children". I don't want to see a 18 year old male that is dating a 15 year old girl to get arrested for sexual assault or statutory rape. He will be labeled as a sexual child rapist for the rest of his life, I have serious issue with that fact, and so should everyone else.
Who created these stupid laws? It was a combination of hardcore feminists that hate male sexuality, and it was also hardcore Christian groups that hate the idea of sex before marriage. Throw in a justice system fueled by lawyers, judges, counselers, probation officers, and prisons, you have a lot of incentive to create some very unjust laws.
"you sound like a hippy"
I hate liberals and conservatives for the most part.
"Who's to say shooting a baby in the face is wrong in the first place"
It's a good question, where does one find their moral compass? Some find it from organized religion, but if one really studies religion, we can find lots of immoral aspects to it, and lots of hypocrisy.
I think humans have a "built-in" moral compass, does shooting a baby harm anyone? Yes, the baby, and it potentially kills or harms the baby for life, this leads 99999 out of 100000 humans to conclude that it is immoral.
Having sexual relations with a 15 year old female, how do we know if it's morally right or wrong? Well, throughout 99.9% of human history, it served societies very well by increasing the population, the female body is mature enough to procreate at that age, and to take care of the infant after childbirth.
Who does the consensual sexual relations hurt anyone in this scenario? The male does not get hurt, and the 15 year of female who was a willing participant also does not get hurt. The Puerto Rican culture still has 20 year old males dating 14-15 year old females, I see it happening in the US all the time, it's completely normal for them.
@Anony #16. Got home from work today, hopped on shroomery to continue our lil debate ^_^ and quite frankly, I see where your coming from, based upon your last post. Your stating the facts, I understand your facts aswell. And given the fact that you said YOU PERSONALLY LOOK DOWN ON IT, but there are people in the world who find it absolutely normal. I no longer have an argument for ya. Nor do I need your address anymore to come hit you.
Yes there are stupid laws in effect. But, I don't think this one is dumb...enough people "sneak" around this law as it is - seeing as we're having this 8 page debate on it >.> I think if this law WASNT in effect...there would be ALOT more adults w/ teenagers these days, and alot more rape.
